He hasn't been that bad; ineffective at worst but hardly a competition winner IMV. The tools you'd want all look to be there to me.
As Dan rightly says, we currently don't play a formation that lets him do the things that he did at Strasbourg. Stacked deck for the lad, though that doesn't change how minimal his influence has been for the most part.
I dunno. I agree with the formation bit - and Iāve said several times that Iām personally willing to give him the benefit of the doubt this season, as weāve seen with other players (Cunha being the perfect example), that it can take a season or so to adjust properly - but at time of writing, I donāt know exactly
what Bellegarde is or what heās good at.
Heās not particularly quick.
Heās not particularly powerful.
He doesnāt seem to have a very good passing range.
Heās not great in the air.
Heās no better than others at tackling.
He doesnāt seem particularly skilful or creative.
He hasnāt got a great or lethal shot on him.
Yes, I know weāre not playing a formation that potentially brings out the best in him, but currently, heās offering nothing of note.
Iām sorry if that comes across as a bit harsh - but when we signed him I just expected a bit more. Who knows? Maybe heāll kick on next season - I havenāt written him off yet, but anyone who says starting him isnāt a downgrade as it stands, is kidding themselves.
Anyway, tonightās game is apparently on the red button on BBC (in the UK). I didnāt even realise that was a thing!
