Brighton and Hove Albion (A) 27.10.2018

Nothing new for a promoted side to struggle to score, difference is with us we create loads.....not sure what the answer is, not as easy as signing a striker I don't think

Is it only 2 games this season that we've scored more than 1 goal? If that continues we aren't going to win all that many games. Playing well generally but man we have to put chances away sooner rather than later.

I'd drop Costa for Cav next game. I feel he needs a break, hes looked off the pace for a while, lacking that creative edge he had before and his decision making is poor atm. He takes too long to offload the ball and his crosses have been awful.

And I look forward to seeing you next week for a pint before the spurs match xx

And me. Still not sure on my ETA as I really must get a goggle test (desperate - I think I need reading glasses as I am now officially a bit of an old cunt). I think next weekend will be a very different game and may suit us with our counter-attacking style. We belong here, that's for sure. And I, like you, would love some more goals.

you could say virtually all our crosses have been useless - as not scored from any.

Have opened a verdict thread now - however despondent you are then post on that

Had most of the possession, controlled the game but utterly toothless in the final third. I honestly think it should have been Cav instead of Traore from the start, we didn't utilise his pace at all today and there were some glaring problems that you see more of when he starts ie not tracking back and marking (he got a right rollocking of Coady for it)

So a few problems, Boly is the only CB bringing the ball out, Bennett who has been excellent for most of this season just doesn't do that. Equally Otto whilst excellent defensively doesn't offer enough going forward for my money and in a game like this it was ready for Vinagre to attack up that left side and put pressure on 38 year old Bruno.

Easy to say in hindsight and with tougher games now coming up I am sure we will stick with the more defensive players but I really think we have missed a trick there.

Also Doc was dreadful, miscontrolled the ball several times and despite getting in good positions several times his finishing was terribad.

MOTM - Boly

Just don’t watch it through rose tinted glasses like some others. I comment on what my eyes see. We’ve not played badly, as such, I just don’t ever feel like we’ve got what it’ll take to get back in to a match at this level when we go behind.

Dunno why you feel the need to try and dress it up as “negativity” just because our opinions differ.

I agree with this completely - up to the final third, we were excellent. They had two chances - a corner they headed wide and a spannered shot that fell for Murray, they offered nothing outside of that and we controlled the game.

Front third though, we were pretty poor - our final ball in particular was awful, especially second half.

We need to improve going forward, we won’t finish top half if we don’t start scoring more than we are at the moment.

Costa has had his moments but Jota has mainly struggled so far. Some very poor decision making from both today. They always work very hard but they're young players and maybe the step up in class has been difficult for them.

People agree with that though. But there is no need for the Jota fucks up narrative when he had just done something good before that isn't mentioned.

Matchday threads on here are spectacularly negative. It's staggering.

I’m driving but need to pick the tickets up off Dan beforehand, so will be able to have a pint with you and we can chew the fat about how much of a negative twat I am :icon_lol:

They aren't that bad Pad, come on..... remember MM's last few games? The negativity and abuse of Ward, Henry, RoJo, Stears etc

Now that was negative and deservedly so. Its been nowhere near that lately

Doc was not dreadful in the slightest.

Doc would be up there for our MoM today. Yes he had somne poor touches and passes, but overall he got into great spaces by running his arse off and could have scored two. We know how poor he can be, but today he wasnt as bad as he can be, he was good. No doubt about it, and usually I would be first to call him out if he was shit.

It's always a pleasure Jinks. Looking forward to it already.

I thought Doc had a good game today, especially first half.

Lost Murray for the goal though - he was standing next to him when the ball went across goal, but Murray went towards the six yard box, and Doc kind of wandered a few yards towards the edge of the box. Then their guy spannered the shot and you know the rest. If he’d stayed with him it could have been a different story...
