Brighton (A) Match Thread

Cavaleiro is definitely fit, he had a full pre season with Monaco and played in a couple of games for them. I understand people not wanting a manager sacked so soon but unless we improve quickly because the points total and performances over the last 5 games in particular haven't been good enough then Zenga will go. Player selection is questionable to say the least and our starts to games are awful. Both of thoseneed addressing quickly.

He is under pressure, like it or not.

If we don't win on Saturday then it wouldn't surprise me if it were his last game.

But this can't be right!
Just look at all the excitement and enthusiastic rubbishing of Jackett's way of selecting and setting up teams.
Wow! this is really going somewhere!
But now it's slowed down and we're still finding our feet, it seems that whilst we're still playing sparkling but inconsistent passages of football, the fickle nature of people seems to thirst for wins and nothing but.
Tell me how the fuck it's going to work if we bin Zenga in January or as Deutsch suggests 'next Saturday if we lose'?
Pay him off and go get some other bloke we've never heard of, and give him 8 or 9 games to gell this team of misfits/super talents together.
Fuck's sake! We could quite happily go through 4 or 5 managers per season.... Give me a break.

Last 9 in the league. W2D2L5. Lost 3 of the last 4. Picks players out of position, sets up negatively, teams continue to start slowly and when are on top don't turn pressure into (enough) goals. Record club signing yet to have a run of games in his favoured position.

If he's under pressure it's because he bloody deserves to be.

I agree with this, but still can't agree about him being under pressure. It's just unhelpful.
That fucking rag (E&S) printed some bollocks of an article a couple of weeks ago, touting the nonesensical fabrication that 'some people are suggesting he's up for the sack'.
It makes my blood boil when they come up with this cheap shitty journalism.
I agree with Tony, but I don't think he should yet be under pressure.

12 points off the top spot and 5 off the relegation zone......patience wearing thin I'm afraid!

I don't see these sort of comments aimed at Manchester United...
How long did it take Klopp to START to make progress at Anfield?
So on and so on...

You could see what Klopp was working towards though, their intensity increased pretty much immediately after he was bought in but they struggled to find consistency until he'd had more time and got a few new players in, they're still a mess at the back half the time and as Monday night showed they'll struggle when first choice players aren't available because others still can't do what he expects.

I don't see any such signs from Zenga, there doesn't seem to be any gameplan being worked towards, it's just throwing whichever potentially talented players into attacking positions and fingers crossed they make something happen, whether it's Bodvarsson battling his way through or Costa skipping past challenges. It's pretty much impossible to see where Wolves are headed under Zenga, what is he working towards?

Sometimes a plan needs time to come to fruition but if there's no real plan then time isn't going to change anything.

Aren't we locking threads after matches any more?

Guess not. I don't even know how to do it tbh! Frank tended to do it but this one got missed. I don't see the harm frankly, this time as it hasn't exactly been argument city.

Maybe there should be a 'Zenga' thread and some bright mod can lift these thoughts from here into it.
There are more and better on the Verdict thread too!
Go on Paddy, you're a clever boy and it'll take you just a few minutes....
