Brighton (A) 8/12 Build-Up & Match Thread

Jota is so ineffective in this formation.

i love you jota, i take it all back!!!

REEEEEDEMPTIOOOONN!!!!

Jota is back which is a real bonus - defending slack at crucial times.

We are still better than them - more goals in this than I expected

Christ - should be winning this easily. But given the defensive shambles I'll take 2-2 at the break

Tale of two poor defences. Dendoncker having a shocker.

On the plus side it's been a bit different from our two games against them last season.

I've been a big defender of Matt Doherty on this forum and his goals/assists last season were outstanding. But he's really a player we need to upgrade if we're going to challenge at the top level

Brighton seem so shaky and uncomfortable passing it around the back like that - reminds me of when we played Reading after they had just appointed Japp Stam.

Second half might think about Bennett on for Dendonker (who isn't having his best game) to bring on the 'physical enforcer'

Jota & Jiminez have had some sublime movement between them - Traore not really in the game much yet

Shame Jota didn’t make it two nil but hes been good today. Alzate and Webster can’t deal with him. This is what he’s been threatening for a while, not having people saying he’s been poor before.

We’ve been fine, it’s a bit of a weird game as it’s being played at quite a slow pace but then sparks into life. We have struggled with Mooy’s movement I think. Gross too.

Largely been the better team bar a two minute freak spell

I'm fairly sure we can do better than Doc but it would cost a hell of a lot so why bother. He's playing so well I can't see the point in replacing him atm

Sure he's playing well, and he's absolutely achieved the most he could in his career. But he's not going to improve or get any quicker from now on

Agreed but his experience will improve. I suggest we have a young back up

He’s not an urgent “we must improve on him now” but eventually we will sign another wing back to compete/take his place obviously. He’s been fine today tbh.
