Brighton (A) 8/12 Build-Up & Match Thread

Van la Parra and Danny Batth last two I think?

The only game my (American) wife has ever attended was at home v Brighton, Xmas 2004. It finished 1-1 (no idea who scored) but the only thing I remember is my wife going to the toilet at halftime and not reappearing until 15 mins into the 2nd half. She knows nothing about football and wanted to talk to other women. She is very good at talking.

That one where Goldson scored that own goal (Afobe’s last game before we sold him to Bournemouth?) was one of the most undeserved wins i have ever seen. Those four wins saved Jackett and we were terrible in pretty much all of them

Miller.

Terrible game just after Hoddle took over and we were in a constant run of 1-1 draws.

We were ok against Fulham tbf, helped that they just decided not to bother defending. Could have been about 8-5.

Beyond awful against Reading and Brighton, didn't see Charlton away but Lycan's review was not positive (other than Jordan Graham).

I met him for the first time at that game! :icon_lol:

Was a terrible game but afobe was the best player on the pitch when he decided to bother in the second half and Graham was good.

Nick Pope an unused sub for them that day.

They brought on Simon Makienok who is one of the worst strikers I have ever seen at any level. Only a rung above the likes of Nouble and Cassidy.

I forgot about him! His biggest contribution was running into the ref I think. Awful player

It also probably ensured Fosun went ahead with buying the club. They would have been in talks around that time and we were coming off the back of some dreadful defensive performances (was it Leeds and Sheff Wed that destroyed us). Not so sure Fosun would have fancied a L1 team.

If Brighton set up like they did last night with narrow wide players and Burn at LB, we can cause havoc with Adama and Doc.

They're a good team though who'll cause us problems on the ball, hopefully Trossard is on the bench again as he looks very decent indeed,

Hopefully we've got a backup tactic for Rui's goal kicks other than kick it towards the right touchline - Doc's got a decent spring but he won't win many against Burn

The back 3 will have to be sharp as they looked lively up front, Connolly in particular. Mooy & Gross are a decent creative pair too.

One thing's for sure - don't expect it to be anything like the two borefests from last season.

The 2 games v Brighton last season we had something like 55 shots....scored 0. Deadly

Charlie Nicholas has us winning. So - the two predictions are identical to our last away game. Which we won.

Ill admit im not super confident about this game, a bit of a bogey team for us, we are tired, would be happy with a draw.

Apart from last game when he had us to win.
