Boxing thread

He can box, shame he couldn't knock out a paperweight. He punches like Steve Corica.

I'd say so. Hughie hasn't stopped anyone who isn't a total tincan in his entire pro career.

Sexton doing a lot of pointless jerky movements for some reason early doors :icon_lol:

That was bad from Sexton. Not even big shots sending him tumbling.

That right that done for him there was a very short punch. Couldn't have been a huge amount of power in it over that short distance.

Is it only me that has a soft spot for Tyson Fury? If he can make a come back in June it will be akin to Lazarus! I for one wish him well. Nice chap in person, unbelievably!

He's fighting an incredibly shit cruiserweight, I'll pay attention when he starts facing up against someone decent.

Yeah but given what he has been through, and the fact he has lost about 8 stone I have to take my hat off too him. I never thought I would see him back in the ring. Lets hope he does it justice.

Don't get why anyone would be interested tbh, he was never a very good boxer anyway - just had an odd style and a good jab. His fights were universally boring and shit.

To be fair, this was box office.

You have to respect the job he did on Wlad but it was a terrible fight to watch.

The job he did on Klitchsko was one of the best heavyweight dismantling since Buster Douglas dethroned Mike Tyson. Boxing will always remember Fury for that and rightly so.116 /111 115/ 112 twice. Comprehensive

Think DW summed it up above really, he did well, but it was still shit. Bit like watching Cardiff - I'd rather not pay to watch that sort of dullness.

I saw a clip of his weigh in on the news. 7 stone lighter and he's still a flabby and out of shape.

Fury is not in great shape still, however he has lost 8 stone so it’s to be expected. Some fighters hate being in the gym and the training side of boxing, there’s a lot of them that blow up in between fights (not to Fury’s extent) but a lot of them need a date set for a fight to work towards. Losing 8 stone isn’t an easy task, there’ll be more concerns of Fury still comes like this in fight 2 and 3 of his comeback but I think this is purely an exercise to try and knock some ring rust off - he could probably KO this guy in round one but I’m guessing he will make it last a few rounds to get a bit of work in.

Fuck knows why but I'm watching it. Fury didn't even throw a punch in the first round as far as I could see

It's laughable. The way Fury is behaving with any luck he might get hit with a flyer.
