Best Films Ever

I didn't spot it but someone must have listed Close Encounters, and I think WolmanOz mentioned Dr Zhivago, another fave is 1935 version of Les Miserables.

Edward Scissorhands used to make me cry every time I watched it (sorry for being so pathetic), only other recent films to do that are Marley and Me and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Holy Grail seemed much funnier than Life of Brian on 1st release, but has not aged anywhere near as well.

Agree DWF re Monty Python's films - Life Of Brian has aged very well . . . seems even more funnier today than it was 43 years ago !

Would be interesting to know for others re films that have made them cry . . . as an adult ! ! !

My Mum tells me I cried when Bambi's mum was shot but I have no recollection of that, but as an adult 2 films have made me cry.

I wept at the end of Schindler's List when the survivors were paying their respect to him at his grave . . . as I'm Jewish this had such an over-whelming impact on me that I still swell up whenever I watch this scene again.

The other was Hachi: A Dog's Tale . . . I'm a dog lover and this film is a little gem (loosely based on a true story from Japan).

Bloody hell, Hachi wiped me out, horrific film of non stop blarting! Marley and me did me too. A dogs journey was another good one, think I dropped off watching that then woke up and in 5 minutes I was screwing my eyes up, thank god I never went to tge flicks to watch any of these.

I'm a big softy when it comes to dogs and most dog films have me holding back the waterworks😭

The 'who wants to live forever' scene from Highlander always brings a lump to my throat, I don't cry obviously, it's just excess moisture in my eye area

A dogs journey was a sequel to a dogs purpose. Both watchable and both on terrestrial tv over the last week or so. Sudden colds developed at the end of both of them.

Those two you mentioned, Hachi, Schindler's List. Also The Green Mile, at the end of Castaway when they are in the rain, Gladiator when he dies at the end, Its A Wonderful Life, Saving Private Ryan. To name just a few.
