Been a long time since we really, really nailed a signing. Nunes is probably the only "good" one, but even with him we're yet to see the best of him & that was a favour from Uncle Jorge.
Nunes, Cunha, Raul, Jota, Neves, Rui all within the last 5 years.

When I say recent, I’m thinking last couple of seasons. We’ve definitely had more misses than hits recently.

Also Cunha is yet to kick a ball for us, so can’t really include him yet.

Anyway, let me make a sarcastic comment in peace without having to debate the arse out of it 😉

Traore? Considering the fee and how he's played I'd say he's a hit. We are going through a bit of a wasteful period but that happens with all teams really.

I fancy us tonight, it's going to be tough for Villa, how many times does a team get a top result in a game that they were expecting to lose, to then fuck up in a game they are expecting to win.

Fancy us to nick a 2-1 win

I think we're going to get a shoeing. On the end of a double last season and they'll be well up for it. Their defence ain't great but my U15 girls could cope with our attack.

Think some are over estimating Villa a bit. They've been in decent form following the introduction of a competent coach but I wouldn't say man for man they're significantly better than us. Obviously they're better than us in the all important goal scoring dept but defensively I'd say were about on par. Midfield I'd say we're just superior. Of course they might beat us but more than likely the odd goal surely? I'm sticking with my prediction thread score of 1-1.

I don’t think they are that good. They are slight favourites being at home but all three results are believable possibilities.

At least in previous years we've been solid at the back. Don't have that at the moment.

I thought we were ok against United in that respect. Individual errors were the cause of nearly all their chances. In terms of organisation and structure we looked miles better. Under Lage it looked like we'd concede every time we lost the ball.

Reading this I thought we were going to the Etihad not Villa Park.

Yes we may lose, yes they may be theoretically better than us, but this is football and well organised teams can do anything.

Fair enough we might not win because we struggle to score, but if a £50m signing can’t help that then we may as well announce relegation now. We might lose because one of the clowns at the back does something stupid (they have their own clowns too), but we shouldn’t be accepting that. Expect it (if you’re down on us) but not accept it. A loss is a really poor result, not a “oh they are better than us it’s expected”.

This. Villa will be favourites, understandably so. But they’re not city. They’re a mid table team. As someone has said, really there is very little between mid/lower mid squad wise etc. you’d hope with a competent manager we will be setting up correctly

So my #ITK was right, the injured player is the one that isn’t playing tonight

I expect it because we've been mismanaged for so long and villa haven't. I accept it because there isn't single thing I can do about it.

I do really, really hope we win though, as I do every single time we play.

All of a sudden feeling less confident.

Cunha simply HAD to start. Gutted for Bouba too.
