Why not? I don't think they've been that bad anyway just can't get near us in midfield, primarily down to them not pressing us at all.

We still look like a calamity waiting to happen at the back, but that's the best we've looked with possession in absolutely ages.

Just think Emery will tweak it but they are struggling with midfield and down both flanks TBH.

He'll have to when we actually get a centre forward who can run on the pitch.

Yes. Ofcourse he lacks that yard of pace, but no real suprise a game we are on top of, having the ball in the right areas, he’s going to be effective with his clever movement.

Noticeable that we have got players closer to him as well so his lay offs are more effective.

Neves. Rolls Royce isn’t he. If he stays with us at the end of the season I’d be amazed. Such a player.

Great to see nunes being used as he should. All in all an impressive first 45.

That was a good half. Surprised by how passive Villa have been at times, but we’ve pressed well and made use of the extra man in midfield.

Helps that Costa and Podence having their best games for us!

Need another goal, hopefully Cunha can come on and get it..

Opening 20 minutes was fantastic. Villa have been appalling and they won’t be that bad in the 2nd half, which is why we needed that second goal when we were on top.

Still, another leap forward in terms of improvement and organisation under Julen. Bueno has been brilliant. The midfield three have been very good. Even Costa and Hwang have been alright.

Plus we have some genuine quality in Cunha available to bring off the bench if things turn in their favour second half.

There's definitely three worse teams than us based off this first half, good performance so far especially in the midfield. Costa has been really good too, if we had a striker with legs would add another dimension to the game and get at them more.

Early deieveries from Bueno dangerous, may he can have a word with RAN.

We only look threatened from utter sloppiness from ourselves. Wayward passes, awful clearances etc.

My worry for Costa is that a lot of times he’s stood in offside positions.

We’ve been lucky that we’ve had a couple of corners in the first half resulting from crosses that if they’d have been converted would have been ruled out for offside.

Keep in tidy in the second half please.

Very good first half. Controlled the game, decent chunks where they haven't been able to get the ball for minutes at a time. Bueno and Nunes have been very good.

Best half of football from us for a while. The goal was an absolute peach. I take back everything negative I've ever said about Podence . Matheus has been excellent as has Bueno. Costa not been shabby, he's worked hard. Still feel like defensively we have mistakes in us though.
