Mac n cheese can be bland, but then so can any dish done poorly. I like mine with a bit of meat in it, but then same holds for a lot of dishes (cauliflower cheese eg.).
Oh, and it's an Italian dish.

But Macaroni cheese and bacon bits is. Add some mustard powder, or even Marmite to the creamy cheese sauce and it's a winner.
