The best thing we did was take the lead really. Had they got the first goal they would have sat back and we’d have struggled to break them down I think.
It’s probably the strongest team we’ve fielded in a BCD in some time. Both in confidence and quality. And the players handled it the best way...
Not so nice when it happens back to them, eh?
Shame it all kicked off but those lot have one-upped us for years, even when Nuno was our manager. About time the rub of the green went the other way, and to be honest it’s probably the strongest Wolves team they’ve faced in recent years.
Considering they had a three man, apparently ‘combative’ midfield it didn’t really show either. They clearly earmarked our high wing backs as a weakness and tried to have most of their joy down the sides - but I can only remember Sa making one decent save. The corners they had largely came to...
Wolves fans were in the home end apparently which isn’t great. Though had that second goal not gone in it wouldn’t have kicked off - just fans getting rattled it sounded like to me.
Neto played up to it when scoring, but no worse than their players have to Wolves fans over the years.
A great result marred by unfortunate scenes. Pep Garyola’s stock just keeps growing and growing.
Really thought we would get caught out today but so glad we put in a professional performance. Great, full blooded game too.
Like I say, just a shame as it has been a “proper” game of football. Full blooded, full of passion - and now there will be a black mark due to this and probably a fine heading WBA’s way.
The result will stand if it doesn’t restart as 75% has been played.
Just awful stuff. It had been a great, full pelt game of football and it takes a handful of knobheads to ruin it because they got rattled.
Our transfer dealings have been significantly more astute in the last 12 months since he stepped away. I had a black mark against Cunha initially but he's worth every penny of the £44m and we're not going to make a loss on him.
We will make a loss on Silva and Guedes.
He just hasn't got many redeeming midfield qualities for me - not particularly an out-of-this-world passer, not combative in the Lemina/Gomes mould, not a goalscorer.
I wonder if he's just a manager's dream in that he's quite aware tactically/is willing to do any job and put a shift in, and...
Yeah, I don’t particularly rate him. Isn’t a prolific scorer and he’s quite lazy.
Plus if he turned into a goalscoring machine on loan for us we’d either a) not be able to afford him or b) Chelsea would want keep him.
I think the latter part is more luck than judgement. None of us predicted O’Neil would be this successful and would get this level of performance out of Hwang, Cunha et al. Happy to admit they did absolutely the right thing in the summer and well done them, but it could have been avoided.
