You’re probably right, but to do that you’re likely taking someone out the middle, which would allow them more space in there. Would’ve caused it’s own problems
Only managed to catch MOTD so can only base it on that, but we looked alright. Arsenal worthy winners but if we were expecting to go...
No issue with signing players for the future, as long as it doesn’t damage us signing players for the present.
9mins of senior football doesn’t strike me as he will be in our first team any time soon
11-14. Feel that’s almost sitting on the fence mind. Some decent business, lucky with injuries could see us top half, where’s the opposite could mean fighting relegation.
I’d back there to be 3 worse teams than us, even if we don’t sign anyone else
I’m sure they have. Doesn’t mean we can’t have a comment and speculate though does it? I’m sure they would’ve thought our squad was bare thin last year as well, and it also remained bare thin 🙃
1 injury shouldn’t mean you move a first choice out of there starting position to fill a gap.
Big couple of weeks in the market to make sure the squad is balanced. O’Neil and Hobbs seem to be making the right noises, but noise is just noise unless signings are made.
Toti shouldn’t be more...
Was thinking this? Not saying he’s currently in the running but if he has a really good season or 6 months and Carsley is interim then we’d be in a position for compo?
Wouldn’t be suprised if there’s clauses in the contract that if he doesn’t perform then he will be gone and maybe not whole...
Maybe I haven’t explained myself correctly, as that’s not what I mean.
My understanding is with Jota (figures may not be correct) but Liverpool signed him for 45m but are paying it in instalments, say 9m a year or something. No add ons, just yearly instalments
Whereas aren’t Chelsea buying...
More importantly it’s 95% of it upfront by the looks, unlike the jota deal.
Sad to see him go. Read somewhere he’s averaged 29 games for club and country over the last 5 years and missed over 100 games. When you strip it back, 50m isn’t a bad deal when you take that into account.
I’d imagine they will have planned for this. Irrelevant of what we think of Fosun, Hobbs deserves the benefit on the doubt IMO thus far. It’s long been touted Neto was likely going to go, so if they hadn’t planned for the eventuality, then there’s no hope.
Would’ve liked a higher fee, however...
