Losing an eye doesn't permanently bar you from racing as long as you pass set requirements. I recall Derek Daly's brother Viv had one eye and he was a decent wheel jockey. MSA rules state that if Maria ever wants to get back behind the wheel competitively she will have to wait 5 years. But I...

    Rangers

Whyte gave his reasons for taking over the club as being a lifelong fan and the belief that the club could tap into the global footbal market. The SPL has enjoyed an increase in viewing figures, although it is a drip in a bucket compared to their Southern neighbours, and Whyte obviously had...

Very much agree with Lemonjelly about how great gardening can be for winding down after work and having a good think about stuff too. Got a fair bit coming up now - spuds, onion, leeks, lettuce, rocket, radish, spinach, carrott, runner and broad beans, peas, courgettes, chillies, cabbage and...

Good list that Paddington, definitely agree on the number 1 slot although I'd say you have Alonso way too high and certainly not above Jackie Stewart and John Surtees - Vettel too high as well. Mind you, no Giovanna Amati - terrible! :D

I thought the whole thing was absolutely terrible. Just a load of clips with some MOR shite. Done on the cheap and it showed.

Nah, saw way worse in touring cars in my time than that little display. ;) Hamilton got his turn in slightly wrong with the Ferrari in front and while it forced Massa to pit it was hardly malicious despite the Brazillian's tantrum. It will be interesting to see if Massa's little stunt makes...

Having just watched it on the iPlayer I'd very much recommend the programme to anyone else reading this. Surprised to see there was a hefty segment on Jim Clark (who remains my favourite driver of all time) and so many wonderful insights from Surtees, Ickx, Brooks and the wonderful Stewart...

I've mentioned before how unpopular Jackie was at the time for his battle to improve safety at circuits. He was subjected to all manner of taunts and insults by people who had a particularly callous view of racing, much to their shame.

If I recall right, Wimbledon is a protected event which can only be screened by public access tv companies, but it isn't mandatory for the BBC to bid for it either. Something like that anyway.

This was so nearly turning into an awful race, and then spun on it's head to be one of the standout ones instead. Congrats to Jenson too, what a superb drive today. As for that marshall, jesus. He'll be lucky to be on pit lane entrance duties for the junior karting from now on for that.

    The F1 Thread

The bottom line might say this but unlike F1 there's a lot more to how it came about. So I would in detail partly disagree due to the Ferrari being considerably slower and there was a racing line even if it was disappearing. You could also argue that the reduction in power introduced on the...

The things that I really, really like thread...

Carving a twsiting A-road on the bike, cranking it over and barrelling out of second gear bends. In reality I'm not particularly quick but it feels just wonderful all the same A large, sandy, sunny, very slightly breezy, almost deserted bay Walking along the bank of the Severn by Ironbridge...

You also have to remember that when Jackie Stewart was campaigning for improvements in safety and medical facilities at circuits he was being regularly slated by much of the press.
