I can't say I've ever noticed at family gatherings... ;)

It's incredible how he looked like a world beater for about 5 games, then looked like a carpet beater after that. And absolutely nothing since those five games too. Other than Tongo Doumbia, I can't think of another player with such a huge and clear drop-off who never showed anything again...

I'm shocked that no one has dug out photos of João Tex. Maybe there just aren't any!

    Farage Ltd and Similar Watch

Flags down a high street put up by the shops to be welcoming is one thing. Flags put up unlawfully on lampposts solely to threaten and make people feel uncomfortable is quite another. As a Welshman living in England, they make me uncomfortable, so I dread to think how it makes other people...

    Landmark Klaxon!

From High Level to Low Level? Via the collonades? I've seen from the platform at High Level that it still existed, but I can't work out where on earth it would come out now on the "outside" of the new High Level station building.

    Trump

Yes, "but the fascists won't come for me, but these other people" is a big thing. Then they're surprised when they do.

    January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

Actually... This isn't true, despite it being the received wisdom and what you'll read on the likes of Wikipedia. The historic counties still exist - so both are still now exactly where they were - Staffordshire. What changed in 1974 was the adminstrative layer created in 1888, so the former...

    January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

Staffordshire Derby between the two biggest cities in the county, so yes, for people north of Wolverhampton it's a bit of a deal. The two cities might be in the same county, but they're a relatively long way apart. It's pretty much the same distance away as Coventry or Burton Albion...

FAW 150 years anniversary shirt. I think I'm going to have to get me one of these for sure.

Wolves 0-2 Bournemouth 31/1 Verdict thread.

You can go back even further than that. Other than Nuno, maybe Brian Little (though given Turner's relative success, probably not), definitely back to Ian Greaves. Before that, you're at Stan Cullis.

    January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

Never anything wrong with giving a damn about people. Because we're all so emotionally invested in this, we do sometimes come across as conflating the player with the person - no-one does it deliberately, but you're right, we ought to try not to do it. "X is a coward" is an example - yes...

    Trump

It's terrifying. I've mentioned before that I was at the Dachau concentration camp in the summer, and the place just reeked of evil. Just horrible. But of course, they have a load of display boards explaining the background, and what was done by the Nazis both before getting elected and...

    Trump

I'm glad you're convinced of that, because I'm absolutely not. Otherwise they'd have not voted for someone who actively tried to destroy democracy in whipping up mobs to attack the Capitol building, then totally rewrite history. Otherwise they'd not have a bunch of people in both Houses who...

    Trump

It's not "the left" though, is it? Other than in the minds of the far-right brigade anyway. It's anyone vaguely left, centre, even centre-right. If former senior Tory party leaders like John Major etc are speaking out against Trump, Farage and the rest of the far right, then the clues should...
