Greetings from a Stockport County fan who was in NL4 of the Stan Cullis Lower for the Everton game last night.
Why? Well, during the 2021-22 season, I’m aiming to watch a game at every Premier League and Football League ground in the fastest possible time, to set a new Guinness World Record. (It’s a horrendously geeky challenge I know, but something I’ve always wanted to attempt!)
Last night was actually my first game. From then, until my final game on the last day of the League Two season, it’s 188 days, which would beat the current record by a day. I’m off to Crewe tonight, Barnsley tomorrow, and all over the place over the next six months.
I’m also raising money for the mental health charity Mind during the challenge. I’ve just set up my Just Giving page (www.just giving.com/desmond-hinks) and if there’s a few Wolves fans on here who could help me to get the ball rolling with a couple of quid, I’d really appreciate it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the game last night. Although I felt a bit old when I realised it’s 20 years since I’ve watched a game at Molineux, when Stockport played there in 2001-02, the year our five year spell in the second tier ended, and we’ve plummeted through the leagues ever since.
Cracking game last night (although I’m amazed you were holding on at the end and not 5-0 up), quality atmosphere, friendly crowd around me, the vegan sausage roll a bit too spicy for my liking, but I’ll give you a bonus point or two for having the Wolves badge printed on it.
If you’d like to follow my adventures during the rest of the journey (I’ve already ticked off Molineux, but I’ll probably be taking in a few Wolves away games along the way) I’m on Facebook (Desmond Hinks) and Twitter (@desmond_hinks).
Also, once the world record challenge has been completed in May, I’m having the book published, which will be in the shops for Autumn 2022. If you’d like to pre-order a copy of the book (with your name included as a thank-you) you can email me on desmondhinks@hotmail.co.uk
All the best for the rest of the season, might bump into some of you at a Wolves away game over the next few months!
