Mine is nailed on for a contender to be the worst.
Andrew Bridgen - Absolute clueless gobshite who for some reason gets airtime on the likes of the Today programme when he's been proven to be an arse who doesn't know what he's talking about. Such as...
The Conservative MP Dan Poulter has won substantial libel damages from the Sunday Times after it published claims that he had sexually assaulted three female MPs.The articles were based on accusations made by Andrew Bridgen, a fellow Conservative MP, who alleged he had gone to the Tory whips office about Poulter in 2010 and that no action had been taken. However, the high court later ruled that the stories implied Poulter was guilty of sexual assault, prompting the newspaper to settle and admit that the claims were false and should not have been published.
A Tory MP has made the bewildering and incorrect claim that all English people are entitled to an Irish passport. MP for West Leicestershire Andrew Bridgen made the bizarre comments on BBC Radio Ulster during a conversation about the impact of Brexit and the Irish border question. When asked whether he understood the fact Northern Irish citizens will also remain EU citizens after Brexit due to the Good Friday Agreement, he said: “Well, that's the common travel area as well, isn't it? We do have the right to go over to Ireland, don't we?” He added: “As an English person, I do have the right to go over to Ireland and I believe that I can ask for a passport. Can't I?” He hung up his telephone rather than continue with the interview.
A Tory MP has apologised for joking about Paddy Ashdown during a tribute to late Liberal Democrat leader. Andrew Bridgen was branded "disgraceful" for shouting "from the grave" in the House of Commons while Lib Dem Layla Moran shared Brexit concerns that Lord Ashdown had in his final days. Lord Ashdown, who had been suffering from bladder cancer, died in December at the age of 77. Mr Bridgen shouted the comment as Ms Moran spoke during Prime Minister's Questions, drawing cries of "shame" from opposition MPs. He was forced to apologise to the house however that didn't stop him on the same day shouting rubbish at Ken Clarke when he was asking a question as part of a debate. This led to Clarke stating that some of his colleagues would be better off protesting outside the commons in yellow vests.
His maiden speech in the house was a classic ""I took advice on what the contents of a maiden speech should be, and I was surprised by some of what I heard. I was told that my speech should have all the attributes of a lady's well-cut dress, meaning that it should be long enough to cover all the important points but still short enough to be interesting."
I'll leave out going chapter and verse about when he was arrested after a parliamentary researcher left his London flat in a distressed state or him benefiting from the HS2 hardship fund whilst failing to declare it in the commons when speaking on the subject.
Has anyone got an MP to match/beat him?
