was quite a suprise he was released, either we've got someone better coming in, or there must have been a problem with him...
To be fair McAlinden is legitimately qualified for the Republic, unlike say, Gibson who just jumped ship because he could.

Anybody see this? brave move I reckon, but then if McLinden carves out a half decent Championship he'll get caps for the republic.
