Wolves 1 Man United 1: “another Neves-esque classic goal” The Verdict thread

Just wanted to say they mentioned briefly at the start of the second half that Doc was ill not injured. Hopefully he'll be OK and play either Thursday or Sunday.

Doc spent fifteen minutes limping at the end of the first half. Couldn’t believe he made it to half time

In Italy and didn't find anywhere to watch it where we are so had to keep up with the game on here, WhatsApp and Twitter. Fuck me we've got some fickle fans

Remember when Cutrone wanted to take the pen and Nuno shouted on that Neves was to take it, even though Neves passed the ball on. Managerial.

Well earned point, I’d have taken 2 points from the opening 2 games. First half we were chasing shadows and were so sloppy in possession. Traore changes the game basically put the Utd back 4 on their heels and gave us another outlet.
Utd defensively look more solid than last season but have the same issues going forward. Pogba, Lingard and Rashford were really poor.
As for VAR whilst you’re at the game is vile. Zero explanation as to what’s going on.

It was a definite penalty.

Traore had easily his best performance in a Wolves shirt. He was excellent

First half we were as poor as we have been at any point in the PL, 0-1 was a decent escape. Not sure what was up with us because Raul and Boly aside all the outfield players looked lethargic. Second half better, Traore made the difference undoubtedly. Still think a point was lucky on the balance of play, but you play a Top 6 team, perform like that and get a point then you've got to be happy.

I don't wanna shit on Bennett but I think that's where we need to upgrade next. Their dangerous attacks seemed to come down the right, that said though Doc shouldn't have been playing

Bennett and Vallejo should be horses for courses picks. Rashford facing him up isn't going to be his game. The battle against Barnes and Wood next week will be

Best game Traore has had for us and it isn't even close. He actually is starting to understand that you can't just stand on the halfway line.

Dan James, for God's sake. So lucky to stay on the pitch. Two outright dives and a late tackle. Horri
ble display. Will not help him with that being a high profile televised game in the long run.

It's a pen
but he's bought it massively.

Thought Raul's header was in all the way.

It can't
be a Neves-esque goal if Neves scores it.

Neto looks seriously good, some hum
ble pie to be eaten there.

I think we've played our get out of jail free card in the 2nd half because at half time it looked like the game was only going to end one way. That 1st half was terrible, Neves putting in one of the worst performances of any Wolves player under Nuno. He wasn't alone in being shit though, they all were with the exceptions of Raul, Coady and Patricio. The number of times we won the ball and gifted it straight back was shocking. 2nd half we improved though I still think we were mostly 2nd best. It was a performance that should put to bed those claims that we can comfortably break into the top 6. We were largely outplayed. But got a point that we barely deserved through determination, hard work and a wonderful strike from probably our worst player on the night.

Adama man of the match. Boly a close 2nd.

Final point, Alan you can't post something which ends with something like 'and if that sounds harsh then tough' and then edit it. Come on man, have the courage of your convictions [emoji2]
I sure don't remember editing it!

Someone needs to have a word with Ruben, and quickly. We cannot let that goal, as good as it was, paper over what was a really quite awful performance.

He is allowed to have a poor game, you know.

If he had 3-4 in a row on that level then fine.

In agreement with most on here regarding Traore - a pleasantly surprising strong performance, gave us attacking impetus and was good going forwards without being a liability at the back. I liked the look of Neto when he came on too.

We were very very poor first half, lucky to only be the one goal down by half time. Started with intensity afterward but felt that we had faded again by the hour. Overall Man Utd were definitely the better side, I am very satisfied with a point.

United look a much better side than the one we played last season, it says a lot about us that we don't have to be at our best to get a result against a team of that quality now. Traore was superb, changed the game for us and it looks like the work they are doing with him on the training ground is paying off as not only today but in the Europa games he has played he is playing with his head up a lot more and is more considered as to when to play a pass and when to take his man on.

It's practically going back to last season for me. He isn't doing enough in our general play, IMO.
