Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

disappointed to see Afobe go. obviously not a surprise and I think the club knew it was coming and had decided to go with it. I think the PR statement is a little disappointing too with a bit of unnecessary finger pointing at the player seemingly just to avoid criticism. if he was doing what he could for the team we should be bigger than that.

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

Not at all, I just don't believe that a player we signed twelve months ago has become some sort of son of Wolverhampton, it's ridiculous.

Anyone who thinks Wolves meant nothing to Benik should watch his reaction after the Huddersfield & Villa goals. I understand how modern football can make fans cynical about these sort of things but the guy genuinely loved playing for Wolves. I would have no problem believing that he left the club in tears.

Those games were at the beginning of the year. Here's the three recent ones watch his reactions to the goals.

Closest he does to celebrating is a light jog after Henry's goal against Reading

I remember KJ saying there were likely to be no signings a day or two before we signed Afobe...

I suggest a quick google but here's two in one article from Wolves and a beauty from Kenny if you believe Wolves statement from today.

That article states that Afobe wouldn't be sold last summer and he wasn't. It also says that 'we’re going to have to spend money on buying players', which they did. Am I missing something?

For the record I do believe Kenny's statement today so if you think he's *lying* please provide the evidence.

You don't need to have a Morgan heart transplant to love the fans you're fighting for. In this day and age it's incredibly rare to find a player who genuinely appreciates the fans/club as much as Benik did and IMO it really does reflect badly on anybody who feels that he moved for money/greed.

Of course he has moved for money. And the opportunity to play in the top flight. That doesn't mean he didn't appreciate the fans and club when he was here though. Both statements can be true. It is a short career, and for a few months of it Benik had a great time here.

1st goal - big dirty own goal. None of them celebrated.
2nd goal - I was there (he was immense that day), Coady, Edwards etc came to celebrate in front of the Wolves fans right by where he was and he joined in. He then went to congratulate Jordan afterwards.
3rd goal - No different to any other Wolves player in that shot (apart from Henry who was of course going mental_.

I find It hard to blame the club or the player and honestly I'm glad it's being dealt with now.

I totally understand why Afobe want's to go we don't look like we will go up this season (well not likely) and Bournemouth are 4 points above the relegation zone and will probably stay up due to how crap Villa & The Geordie II are :))) and If he impresses he will probably move on to a bigger club again in 12 months. You don't have to be body language expert to see how frustrated and unsettled he has been since in early September.

As for the board I'm glad he's being sold so early giving us time to least to get some reinforcements in, If Afobe was sold in the summer I would have been seething and they would deserve all the criticism they would have had as we zero time to at least find a replacement and would have truly sold us down the rive (A lovely phrase the other site likes to use). A £10M profit in 12 months is too tempting to turn down IMO even If only half of that will be invested.

Put better than my version, he obviously enjoyed his time here and had a rapport with the fans, something he will enjoy with his future Clubs.
To believe that he was dragged away from the Club in tears kicking and screaming is just plain nonsense and is being used as another stick to beat the Manager with.

It is being used as a stick to beat Moxey Morgan and Thelwell with, just as much as KJ. It is a sad and sorry indictment of the standard of communication from the club over the last half a decade and more that the immediate reaction is to believe the whole thing is lies spin and bullshit. The trust relationship with the fans is completely fractured. Any repair that the league 1 triumph made is now gone for good. At least while the same figures remain at the club I can't see it improving.

Either you're being wilfully obtuse or deliberately misleading. The article is about Sako being replaced. Which he wasn't for any amount of money as we already had Graham and Ojo was brought in on loan. If you think we did can you point out where?

You can choose to believe the club if you want. I don't and I still think those that do are not engaging a rational brain. I believe I don't need to provide 'evidence' for belief but you go ahead and provide some to say they're truthful in saying he's constantly asking for a move.

Whilst I don't disbelieve the statements by the club we have been told some woppers since may. Summary of these is

Moxey we will spend big to replace Sako

Jackett No first team players will be leaving this window by bye Stearman 48 hours later

You can add this one too: http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...62250.html#$$o0pf5n&&bkkYOrcWEeWGsQprOItCHQ$$.

"No, we haven't had any difference or conversations on Benik, other than making sure he scores goals and plays well. And he hasn't thrown his toys out of the pram at all.

Sort of contradicts today's statement somewhat. Not that Jackett would throw his players under the bus....
