Thought I'd put this in here - I'm tempted to start a separate 'We Want Plates' thread for the uber-wanky fad of putting meals in/on/under/around wholly unsuitable and stupid objects. Because it's a whole topic of its own.

But look at this FFS:

Ridiculous.

Good grief, how stupid! Dont understand this these days, and really annoys me. The other week I had a starter served on a piece of slate, my main was served on something similar to my chopping board, me fries were in something that looked like a little flower pot. Just give me a bloody plate, simple.

And that pizza looks proper shit anyway.

Fuck it - I'm starting a new thread. We'll save this one for actual food conversations.

Ha ha! So it is! I don't know if that photo is actually from the restaurant - was just a bit of a lazy Google image search.

The thread to highlight and poke ridicule at stupid establishments who serve their meals on stupid objects.

Photos of desserts served on slates with subsequent melting ice cream dribbling onto the table cloth are most welcome.

@Langers, presumably one would eat it as though playing mahjong?

Bonus points if it's your own experience and/or photo. Save this just being a rehash of the @wewantplates twitter feed.

Agreed but we need some content to start with to beef the thread up a bit (no pun intended).

So here's a pudding. In an ash tray.

Yeah, some are worthy of a repost! :icon_lol:

It used to be just ' trendy ' places that did this but its now caught on everywhere it seems. To serve a meal on something that is made of wood, that has knife marks on it, surely its unhygenic for starters.

I actually kinda like this one:

This is a Langers original! In the Botanist in Brum in November - some pork scratchings on a wooden picture frame with apple sauce in a miniature wheelbarrow.
