v Southampton (A). League Cup 2nd Round 23/08 - Match Thread

It was probably more that the ref wasn't shit

Sorry but I disagree, the common denominator on here is when Wolves lose, the referee is to blame. Wolves have won tonight and the referee is not being criticised.

I still think the ref against Cardiff was shit but the ref tonight wasn't.

Anyway, sounds like we put in a good performance and some players putting themselves forward for the first team. If bazza needs a rest it sounds like vinagre can step in. I wouldn't be too worried about price/Ronan coming into CM. Norris sounds like he had a Stormer and Marshall got some minutes.

For those asking Price was neat and tidy and miles better than Edwards. Cav was also lively. Norris made 2 key saves to keep us in it in the first. Not the best game but we were solid and restricted Southampton to scraps. Deslandes did OK but he can't jump or head a ball but his passing was good.

I respect your viewpoint, but my point was that when we win the referee is fine, but every time we lose the referee is the devil incarnate, and I just cannot understand it.

Anyway back on track, it was a superb victory against last years losing finalists.

I don't remember many games last season where anyone on here blamed the ref for our losses but Walter and Lambert got plenty of heat Frank

Don't feed the troll Andy.

Do not ever refer to me like that. The truth which you choose to ignore is that when Wolves lose then referee is rubbish, it has happened for years on here. You may have noticed the referee has not been criticised on here tonight, there is a very good reason why.

Wolves won.

Nope. You just decide that people questioning the ref means they blame him for defeat. No one did that on Saturday...infact pretty much everyone stated that, I guess because they knew you would not be happy.

Seen plenty of times where we have won and the performance of the ref has been questioned. If they do something a person seems to be wrong they will say so. Yes it can be OTT at times, but that is just the nature of a game. No different to a player.

With respect Frank, I was at the game on Saturday and the referee (and his team) missed a huge number of off the ball incidents that would not have been picked up by the cameras.
A lot of people on here (and myself offline when asked) have said that we didn't play well and might have lost even if Cardiff were managed by a person with moral integrity.
You are right that it is easy to blame the ref for a defeat, and I try not to do so, but the ref last Saturday had one of the worst performances I have seen watching Wolves live.

From what I understand Austin should have gone for clattering into Norris studs up, but that was the only thing. So the ref was a bit less shit than the Cardiff one - happy now Frank? :)

How did Vinegar do? Ready to step up to cover Bazza?

Frank making stuff up? Never. Very few blamed the ref on Saturday for our defeat, merely saying he had a shit game. Only you said that people thought that.

For what it's worth I thought the ref was shit tonight. Doesn't mean he influenced the result. Is that okay?
