Its going round and round in circles with no hope of any mutual ground to be found.

We spent money - we pretty much exclusively bought utter shite and as a result we got what we deserved. I'd hope that we'd learnt our lesson if/when we return.

The in crowd will either get the thread closed down or get you banned.

Let's not de-rail this thread even further with this sort of unhelpful BS. Contribute to the discussion by all means but cut this out, please.

I think that's the point. I haven't seen that much difference with Jackett to say that he's been particularly good with money and I don't think our scouting system is good enough at this moment in time to cope with decent money as the identification process seems very hit and miss. I'm glad we have a decent academy but without a decent recruitment staff I think we're at the level we will be until better is found. And I thought Webber was particularly a flawed appointment too.

I admit I was wrong about the £60m. It was £40m or so. The point still stands, we spent heavily on fees and pretending otherwise is just plain silly.

Nice to see the standard "this forum is a clique, everyone gangs up on me" stuff is still going.

The thing about the £40m+ is you then have to factor the wages on top of that. A lot of those players we signed will of commanded a pretty decent wage, a lot more than the players we offloaded.

What is tedious is a forum assuming anyone that isn't part of the old established guard that apparently exists on here is a "WUM".
I haven't a clue who Deja wolf is but it's becoming increasingly obvious there are a small number of bitter individuals who are unwilling to listen to any opinion other than what the general consensus is. One of your regulars has just posted erroneous information about us spending 60 million plus in our 3 premiership seasons yet this is unchallenged. I post it was around 30 million ( half of this) and one of your regulars seizes on it like a wild dog saying it was infact 36 million. If the forum is so much of a clique where other users are pounced upon why not just close it to new members and chat amongst yourselves where you can pat yourselves on the back at how great you are shouting WUM to anyone or anything you see close to logging on. It's quite sad really

FFS. Go back to pages 1 and 2 and find several seasoned posters, including a couple of mods, broadly agreeing with your general point that you'd rather be a winning team in the Championship than a struggling one in the Prem. A number of people have also disagreed with you and called you a WUM (big deal!) and you're getting all bent out of shape.

In our third season of premier league football we were in the bottom 3 clubs in wages which I don't have a problem with but we need to adjust expectations accordingly and accept its unlikely we will ever sustain premiership football following this model, even if it is the right way of doing things protecting our long term financial health

This is a slight myth because the table was based on the amount that was paid in that year, where we wouldn't have included bonuses for staying up where the other teams would.

I don't want the thread closed.
The discussion subject is good and relative, it's just that some tempers are becoming frayed.

Many things have happened to this club in the past, but most of recent history has been dire and fans old and new don't want that repeated.

The present management seem to have stabilised the club and along with the results of the last two seasons, which have been wonderful, some fans probably see that promotion to the Premier League may jeopardise that. Personally, I feel that if we get promoted it's because we deserve it, and that will lead to financial rewards and greater exposure on the media, which many of our foreign fans would be happy with.

How we deal with that financial reward is the big question but hopefully having had experience and having a stable club we will find the right way to handle the situation. That will be 'The Wolves Way'.

It won't as long as there's decent discussion to be had. And I think there still is in amongst the other stuff.

Slow afternoon, I got bored and did some work for our new friend...

Success!

Check out Arsenal in the bottom 3 on transfer fees, miracle they've stayed up!

I'm a little disappointed in myself looking back, should've had columns for total spend and total received in there as well, think Wolves still sit just about in the top 10 on overall spend anyway though.

Yes, good stuff Mark. Goes to show what could have been I guess

Doesn't seem to include those transfers that went down as "undisclosed" either...
