Aye, the upcharge for laptops is pretty insane, but IMHO the mobility is incredibly worth it.

If you need the best of both worlds you can always buy a relatively stripped down laptop and buy an exterior GPU dock. That way you get laptop portability and desktop performance.

Not a one, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to desktop processors.

I mean obviously the GTX9xx series is high quality but as for the individual vendors that sell them (EVGA, Waterforce, etc.), I don't know a damn thing.

I'm also not sure how expensive the actual GPU docks go for these days, even in USD, so no promises that it's actually cost efficient.

I was on about the enclosure really. I'd be looking at the gtx970 or R9 290 for the graphics card. I'll do a little digging but I'd be surprised if it all came in any cheaper than the laptop tbh. Manufacturers tend to price these things accordingly.

Do you think we should have a separate PC/Laptop thread?

A lot of gamers would be lost after reading the last few threads which are not game related.

I think they are very much game related but I'll leave it up to the mods.

It never gets PC techy for very long, most of the posts in here are just about games.

Yeah it's only sparse posts about it. It's really not that techy anyway. Just talk of different GFX cards. Most people know about computers other than that nowadays.

That's not really the spirit of the thread though is it, a chunk of people don't care about what warlocks and goblins there are in the Witcher but no-one's obliged to start a separate thread for all that.

Well this is the video game thread. Witcher 3 is a video game. People talking about the technical details of their computers isn't. Simple really.

A discussion which happens so rarely that it's scarcely worth even raising the point. 184 pages of this thread, I doubt more than 2 pages worth are about technical specs (which is important to some PC users when they're considering whether they should or shouldn't buy a particular game).
