The Rugby Thread

Hmmm - Wales and Ireland put out first strings in Dublin and Wales win. Lovely.

Wasn't quite an Irish first team whilst they will all be in the squad none of the Front Row, Henderson, Murphy, Fitzgerald, Earls and probably Dave Kearney injuries permitting will be first choice come the crunch games, same time Wales won fair and square away from home against still a strong enough team so bodes well for them.

Looks promising for both of us. That England Wales Australia group is going to be a beast.

Ireland will keep their complete first team to play against England at Twickenham, although even that game will make use of subs.
Should be a good game.

Away from the world cup, in this seasons Welsh Principality League they are trying out an experimental scoring system

6pts for a try and 2 each for penalties and drop goals.

Think it should stay as 5pts for a try, but I like the idea of 2pts for penalties esp. given England's recent record.

I dont think they should be changing it at all. 5 points for a try was brought in to make things more attacking. Skewing it more again seems silly.

Reducing penalties to 2 points would vastly increase the number of cynical fouls/killing play.

That was my thinking as well, scoring system is fine as it is.

Apparently today England are using the away dressing room and wearing red to simulate the Fiji match in a couple of weeks.

Forgot they were in the same group as well fucking hell whoever comes out of that group will be wrecked.

Fiji are physical but England should overcome them comfortably. England are completely different proposition at Twickenham as they are on there travels.
The games against Australia and Wales are tough but you'd back England to beat 1 of them on home soil to progress.

WTF?

England guilty again of not taken there chances and seeing teams off.

And it looks like 1/2p is out of the World Cup. Terrific.

Is this for sure or are they going to assess him shortly? It would be a shame if he's out of the WC as he's such a good player and deserves to be there.

Reports last night were about it being ACL, if true dreadful news for such a great player.

Terrible for Wales they will be really up against it especially after losing Webb as well yesterday (plus Jonathan Davies previously), and AWJ apparently struggling, big holes to fill.

I wonder at the wisdom of playing games two weeks before the World Cup. Rugby is such a physical game that injuries can easily occur.

You can't go into a world cup under cooked though. 1/2p slipped which he could have done in training.
