This is a brutal game. England really missing Billy & Maro

Got away with only being three points down, could easily have been 15-20 down inside the first quarter of an hour. Still in it, this Australia team always give you a chance.

That was an excellent second half display, too much power, too much skill.

Quality depth to the squad now.

Easily the second best side in the world now. Up to you to try and catch up with the All Blacks.

We'll need some decent opposition for that to happen. Thankfully Ireland re very good at the moment and France REALLY surprised me last week against the ABs (who might have been on holiday already). Wales still have quality and need to find some form if they want to keep up.

Dylan Hartley just got a straight red after being on the pitch less then 5 minutes for Northampton for a swinging arm.

Not sure what sort of ban he will get.

The length of the ban could decide his future England career.
If his ban impinges on the 6N then he will lose his shirt and his captaincy and Eddie Jones might just decide that's enough.

Just when I was starting to accept he'd turned a corner :angry-smiley-034:

Joe Launchbury having a superb game for Wasps this afternoon against Connacht, making turnovers and now scoring a try with a lumbering dash from 15yds.

Hartley gets a ban of six weeks, with 6 weeks to go to the 6Nations.

Co-incidence? Think of it what you will.

Alex King has joined Rob Howley's Wales' backroom team as attack coach, ahead of the 6 Nations.

Leicester Tigers have sacked director of rugby Richard Cockerill after nearly eight years in charge.

Pretty inevitable, I suppose, although I'm not sure what he is meant to do to compete with the wealth of Wasps and Saracens - been really unlucky with permacrock Tuilagi.

Chris Robshaw will miss the 6N with a shoulder muscle injury that needs an operation.

England's other Flanker hero from the Aussie series down under, James Haskell, made a first appearance for Wasps after being out for months with a toe operation. It lasted 35 seconds when he knocked himself out in a hit on Freddy Burns which went wrong.

Last Saturday Joe Marler pulled-up during the warm up of their match against Sale.

Following an MRI scan, the loosehead prop has been told he has a fracture to his lower left leg, with his club reporting on Wednesday that he will be sidelined for around five weeks, which means he is likely to be ruled out until at least midway through the 2017 Six Nations.

Another one bites the dust.
