The R.I.P. Thread

An 11 year old girl has died after falling into the rapids at Drayton Manor.

Truly fucking awful.

Awful news

It was at Drayton Manor

Didn't someone die on a rapids ride in Australia not long ago? Terribly tragic, a young girl on a school trip. It wouldn't surprise me if the closed all that sort of ride down if that is the case

Yes, the incident occured on the Gold Coast in Queensland in mid-October, 2016. I only know about it because I was in Australia when it happened.

The Australia incident resulted after mechanical error. The facts of what happened at Drayton Manor today are yet unknown. 100's of Rapids rides operate safely around the World without incident, but you often see people standing up to avoid getting wet ignoring the "stay seated at all times" warnings.

Robert Miles has died aged 47.

Children was one of the most played songs in the mid-90's - I get a tinge of nostalgia whenever I hear that!

Geoffrey bayldon, cat weasel and the crow man in worzel gummidge has died aged 93,like most of us on here I thought he'd died years ago

If there is an afterlife. Perhaps justice is finally being served.

I know a lot of people do not agree with the death sentence, but if ever a person deserved to be executed for their crimes it was Brady. How much money has been wasted keeping him in prison all these years?

Well you can take that point of view obviously, but this was the fallout of the abolition bill. Had they been caught a matter of months earlier then there would have been a death sentence.

I think keeping a prisoner alive is cheaper than the death penalty. It certainly is in the USA.

He had wanted to die for years. So keeping him in his miserable existence has been more of a hell than sending him into oblivion IMO.

Only because of the stupid bullshit that goes with it. I don't agree with the death penalty, but it's only stupidity that makes it more expensive.

My apologies I did not mean to re-open the death penalty thread, but I was born in Manchester and did not live far from where the children were taken. Like many other people who lived there during that terrible time, I have never forgotten or forgiven what Brady and Hindley did.

I don't think you can have a pick and mix view on the death penalty and I'm against it as I don't want to live in a society where it's seen as acceptable, but someone like Brady makes that internally challenging

Only because of the numerous multi million dollar appeals procedures they go through !
