The Official World Cup 2018 Megathread

As they've said and shown on the broadcast. The ref doesn't see it and goes solely on what he's been told by the VAR officials so tough to blame the ref. They should be referring it back to him to come take a look and let him make the decision.

Colombia are a bunch of shameless, dirty and diving cheats. Fuck them.

And neither should you, nobody is going to threaten you or get on the next plane over the pond, it does however make you look a bit of a twat.

You're being polite, I think both Yanks are cunts tonight.

From a neutral perspective it was clearly orange. Very silly for sure and no one could complain if he was given a red. But come on, it's a tiny little nudge with the back of his head, sliding up from the chest. Yes it is probably intentional, but borderline enough for the ref to choose a more moderate reaction. Hendersons overreaction probably didn't help either.

Fred...if you have a little spare time, do me a favour. Do a referee qualification course. It really puts a different perspective of viewing the game

I think I will be fine Mike, thanks..they have VAR also

Bit harsh for one comment, especially given my style of posting here.

Definitely harsh. Settle down.

I'm going to be controversial and agree with the non English lads. I think a yellow is right, the dip of the head is a yellow and then he catches his chin when lifting his head up, he doesn't headbutt him. Henderson goes down holding his face and Neymar would have been proud of him no doubt. Will admit though i would say 99% of the time that's a red card with VAR i would imagine.

Will also add that it's fine to disagree with people but the name calling is embarrassing lads.

I agree with this. Could easily have been a red but enough to the chest first to justify a yellow.

I do think that the ref should be having a look himself though.

as a more general point, if this weren't an england game, I'm guessing a lot of people would rather refs lean toward moderation rather than iron fists on plays they did not directly see

was that foul even reviewable by VAR? sorry I'm not familiar with all the rules surrounding the new tech.

So a headbutt to the chin is a yellow and people wonder why players go rolling around when they get hit.

Maybe if players got the protection they need they wouldn't need to roll around so much

Again, get in a good position and lose it on the edge of the box, just need a bit more quality in the final third

Harry Kane is playing so deep. We need him on the edge of their box, not out wide.

Possible red card offence not seen by the ref so review is appropriate. Even if the decision really wasn't, the ref on the field really should have come across and looked himself.

Nope...I want referees who apply the laws of the game and who are consistent. They are "Laws of the game" and are not open to interpretation. Too many referees think that they are the be all and end all of the game and want centre stage

we certainly are quick to get bodies back when we lose the ball.

free kick chance here

It's a head into the face from a deliberate movement, the fact it's the back of the head and the chin on the face isn't relevant
