The Vikings caused a lot of their own problems in the first half. They held the Lions to 7 points and then the kicker shanks it out of bounds and then the Lions start at the 40 and it's an easy 3 points for them.

Before that the Vikings got in the red zone 3 times and Darnold looked jittery, overthrowing people who were open about 12 times.

Weirdly, having been denied by Dallas (which I don’t really understand since McCarthy’s contract with the Cowboys ends today), their second option appears to be Pete Carroll, who is almost certainly a better choice outright!
