The NFL Thread

Yes, McCown may become a great coach - so why not go out and learn the ropes at a high school or as an assistant. Surely nobody actually believes he already knows it all.

He does go to the right church, though. (This is the Texans, religion is more important there than at any other NFL team.)

It's a disgrace if they give it to McCown, they absolutely have to give it to Gannon...

I think this goes beyond race, it's just corrupt. McCown has nothing to suggest he can coach. That's a joke appointment and disrespectful to everybody who coaches at any level.

This is an example of this utterly stupid notion that because you've played the game you can coach.

Sounds like the sort of shit that goes on behind the scenes in most teams and hiring practices. Not sure why it's racist tbh. I'm sure plenty of guys have been interviewed with the team knowing full well which guy they actually want.
That wasn't the sequence of events though. Belichick sent the congratulatory text to Flores thinking he was Daboll the day BEFORE he had his interview.

You are correct Daboll was always going to get that job - it was obvious, I posted it in this thread. However you can't have a rule which is supposed to benefit minority candidates and then be seen to decide you aren't appointing them before the interview. Shows it up for the sham it is.

Yes, an organisation has decided which bloke they want before they conduct the interviews. That goes on in every business around the world.

When the "bloke they want" is White 999 times out of 1000, it bears investigation, no?

Like I said the other day, he's getting the interview to tick the Rooney rule box. It's a joke.
It comes from a good place, but clearly isn't working, too many biases many unconscious, which then get hidden behind intangelibles like 'smart guy' and 'leader'. Not sure what the answer is though, you can't make 32 middle aged and elderly white billionaires sell their franchises.

It’s the same subtle biases that lead to Black footballers having physical attributes accentuated over mental ones by commentary. It’s almost never done out of malice so it’s difficult to pull people up on for a one-off. But if you aggregate the data, the pattern is quite clear. And patterns are not accidental.

The video of all the merch getting unloaded last week, somewhat spoilt the reveal

Boring, but I'm kind of over mascots in general at this point.

I swear to god, if they just make themselves an ad for the USAF I will be hysterical.

Gotta get those sweet, sweet jersey sales.

San Antonio had it first.

The Alliance of American Football existed for less than a season in 2019. Eight teams, one of which averaged crowds of almost 30,000 per game. The San Antonio Commanders.

Washington stole our name.

And it is a shit name.

I have a baseball cap with the old logo that micro picked up when he visited relatives over there three years ago. I can't see myself buying a shirt with the new logo. For a start NFL shirts are rather pricey.

I'm seeing lots of "Commies" jokes with the red and yellow colour scheme.
