The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

He won't have got a pay off from Sheff Wed unless Swansea are paying him less which seems unlikely

Has one of these merry-go-round appointments ever gone on to achieve anything approaching long-term success? I can't think of one offhand.

At a push I suppose you could say Hodgson, if he qualifies. Did a superb job at Fulham and he was steadily improving West Brom until he took the England job. Done really well at Palace considering where they were, although it's unlikely to be a long-term project given he's 70 years old. Then again, maybe he's a bit too high profile and has done well enough, often enough, to pull himself out of that bracket.

Carvalhal is a nobody though. Hadn't managed anyone for three years before he went to Wednesday, whereupon he was handed a top two budget for two years in a row and didn't take them up. Not sure what Swansea are expecting at all.

Championship mid-table by the look of it.

Steve mclaren leaves his role at mccaabi Tel aviv, saying its with regret I leave but I have to return to England, some bookies saying he's got the Sheffield Wednesday job

If he is they are not really improving their chances of sucess

He's Portuguese. Maybe they think he'll suddenly unlock the Renato Sanches puzzle.

I don't believe in criticising sackings at other clubs unless they are ridiculous like Rowett at Blues. There have been plenty of people over the years have a pop at us binning Mick or Jackett when most who actually watch the side week in week out would have been in agreement. Forest from the outside look like they are having an average season unlikely to make the play offs, unlikely to go down. Looking at their squad that feels about right, some promising young kids coupled with some experienced average Championship players like Vaughan and Murphy. Expecting anything more seems unrealistic.

Probably Gary Monk back in a job very soon.
Forrest are where you’d expect them to be, they haven’t improved the squad much since last season and stayed up narrowly.

Not surprising. Tried to get them to play pretty football out from the back when they couldn't, costing them goals and games. All the while wearing that green jumper like he was Clough reincarnate.

Chaos.

Warburton is a bit of a fraud though.

Forest apparently have Aitor Karanka and Kenny Jackett top of their manager wish list

Ken's doing a really good job at Pompey in fairness. Top six is well above where they'd have been aiming at the start of the season.

I've seen Lambert being linked to the Sheffield Wednesday job today

Karanka will sort Forest's defence out. Might be a bit insipid to watch going forward though.

Stoke board are considering Hughes position according to Sky Sports.

What's to consider? He should have been gone ages ago.
