The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

Would anyone be opposed to Paul Cook or Nigel Adkins at this point? I wake up every morning expecting to see news of Jackett being fucked off, yet here we are.

I infamously said when Adkins got sacked by Southampton about a fortnight after we appointed Saunders that we should immediately bin the dunce and get the former in. Got pelters for that at the time. I still say that would have been an entirely correct move - he wouldn't have relegated us, and it still surprises me now how long it took people to wake up and see what a fucking idiot we'd employed - but since then he's failed at both Reading and Sheff Utd, I don't doubt he'll find success somewhere at some point but I don't think his stock or recent record are high enough to suggest he'd really improve matters. I want a change but not just for the sake of it.

Cook has been top of my list for about six months or so for a variety of reasons but he'd still represent a sizeable gamble.

It's all moot though as unless we get a new owner or Ken decides for whatever reason he doesn't fancy it any more (and there is no indication of either) then he will 100% be our manager on the opening day of next season. If we were minded to let 2015/16 drift to a tepid close and then shake hands with him and call it a day, it would have happened at the start of this week.

Then it's going to be a really long summer for you.

Our manager should have gone long ago. However unlike Martinez he doesn't have one of Europe's best strikers up front, expectations are wildly different. Everton and Wolves isn't a remotely viable comparison point.

What you can say is that plenty of teams who finished immediately above and below us in mid-table in the Championship sacked their manager this season and we didn't, which tells you where our club is in terms of being content going nowhere.

And taking a club from 7 th to 14 th. Everton also reached a cup semi final.

Everton haven't got anything to do with us, I'm not sure what you're getting at. Especially when you're preaching to the converted regarding Jackett.

Martinez gone finally, couldnt stay really with that underachievement

It was inevitable that Martinez would go, but who will Everton replace him with? Eddie Howe maybe.

de Boer is likely.

Especially after his agent said the other day he would like to manage a club like Everton.......and now he is available

Paddy called it last night, hardly a surprise though, as for us, if and when Jackett goes I'd love to see Paul Cook here.

I wonder if de Boer's availability hastened the Martinez departure. While I expected him to be sacked, I thought it would be after their final game of the season.

RdB has been saying that about every half decent vacant managerial position in Europe for the past two seasons.

I can't see Paul Cook ever managing Wolves while Moxey is here. He seems to value professionalism over any actual on field reasons, hence his love-in with boring old Ken.

Anyone wanting Adkins here now needs to go and have a look on the Blades forums. They fucking hate him, and his style of football.

Would people be averse to Martinez? Possible he could get a low end PL job, or even Newcastle, as one assumes benitez will walk.

I'm not Adkins' biggest fan but by this point I'm pretty convinced that United are just cursed.

Adkins Reading team looked pretty rubbish tbh. I agreed with DW at the time (re saunders) but now think Adkins time has passed.

My uncle is a Blades fan and he's told me he'd love Jackett at Bramhall Lane, due to the ease he got us out of league 1. And that we definitely wouldn't want Adkins.

Not touting Adkins for Wolves in any way, just saying that even Pep would probably have Blades just missing out on the playoffs.

I don't see Benitez walking for some reason. That's a huge club to build some history with and a different sort of challenge for him. He strikes me as someone that would definitely walk if he couldn't get them back up the first try.

Paul Cook was unable to keep his emotions under control this evening, and the referee dismissed him from the technical area. Passion is fine, but if he cannot control himself, he will struggle to manage at a higher level.

I'd love cooky here, his teams play good football.

He was over the top frank - but you must admit the ref was diabolical tonight.
