The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

They always split the games now, same as the Europa League. Some start at 5.55, some start at 8.00 (United are even earlier tomorrow at 3.50 as they're all the way out in Astana which isn't really even in Europe)

Inter Milan 2 up. VAR says no. Rules out the goal for Lukaku. Back to VAR. Penalty to Slavia Prague. 1-1. Blimey. We could be seeing Inter in the Europa.

Good stuff by the shit tonight. They look certain to come back up.

Astana is nearer to Beijing than the traditional border of Europe at the Urals.

Good night for Benfica. Keeping themselves alive in the Champions League group. I almost want them to drop into the Europa as I would absolutely love the chance of a competitive game against them. It would be incredible.

So Inter need to do better against Barcelona than Dortmund do against Slavia Prague, or they drop to Europa?

I've always thought Champions League teams dropping down at the midway point was bollocks. A team could qualify for a CL playoff, lose a two leg tie and be out of Europe, but a team that finished one place behind them gets six games guaranteed. If there is to be any drop down it should be at the beginning of the season, not half way through.

There is a good possibility of some mighty teams dropping into the Europa. Chelsea or Valencia or Ajax, Inter or Dortmund, maybe even Atletico. I will do some pot analysis again after game week 5 is concluded. Hell, even Liverpool could still drop in.

I would love for Dortmund to fall in and play us. What an away trip that would be

Looks to me more likely to be Inter that drop in. They are at home to Barcelona, while Dortmund are home to Slavia Prague which you would expect them to win.

Nice trip to the San Siro anyone?

Some of the champions league groups are ridiculously tight.

Last chance to see the San Siro before the old girl gets knocked down too.

United's youth are shit, City have the pull in Manchester now for young kids, United have done bugger all to update their coaching/scouting/facilities in 20 years. Stand still and you get beaten.

They'll get the odd good player just by the law of averages (Greenwood looks decent, Rashford has obviously come through, Williams has some promise) but there'll be no conveyor belt there.

Watching them against our U23 last season there weren’t (m)any I’d take over our youth team.

In some ways it’s sad to see how Utd have been milked for cash, in other ways fuck them and their arrogant glory hunting fans.

Just turned on BT and saw them talking about the kids and showed a replay of an open goal miss. Set up by a reet fat fuck...or Luke Shaw as we know him
