The January 2025 Transfer Thread

PSR is a convenient fall back excuse, to win the PL you need bank rolling to survive in it you need to be run properly.
Example being Fulham & Brentford, smaller everything than us but run properly.

Hobbs even said himself we didn't have PSR issues!?

I don't think we have a PSR issue but I do think we have a cash issue. What we are generating is filling already committed holes or prior transfers. We already have £40m committed into next season for example.

I feel like that is why they were desperate to take the bad PR on the rises to make as much as possible.

You are being gaslit with those figures. They aren't unusual for a PL club and omit the counterbalancing income from sales. Last Summers business alone will cover half of it or thereabouts with more than that from the year before and obviously considerable other incomes most notably from TV and a wage bill which is a fraction of what it used to be. We have cashflow issue because the owners choose to have one, not because of the accounts.

Yeah our overall club wage bill isn't high enough for us to get into trouble given how much we make from the TV deal.

The amortisation bill each year shouldn't be that high as we don't tend to make huge purchases. And as pointed out above the player sales will easily cover that. Cunha is obviously the biggest bill on that ledger for the last few years. The rest of our signings have pretty much all been sub £25-30m. And as Deutsch likes to point out, Guedes is the biggest criminal in that range and will hopefully be gone soon. Oh and not to mention Fabio, but same story as Guedes.

I wonder what Cunha will actually go for. We paid 42m. Looking at the highest prem transfers list there's quite a few higher, some are top notch players but there's quite a few... questionable ones. 55-60m? Anything more seems crazy to me!

It won't be any more than we paid for him as a Championship team unless there are a number of suitors. Maddison and Barnes went for about £40m and that was with English tax.

That last bit was what i was what I was trying to get at. They have basically run our club on credit. So this year's money is now seemingly always covering last year's costs. There is no "What about the Neto and Kilman money?" With them - as for the owners that was covering the already signed commitments.

It’ll be toxic tomorrow even if it’s a draw, looking at social media the anger is drifting from GON to Fosun but fully expect it to shift between the 2 as things progress in game.
I’m glad I’m not there as toxic crowds often mean people getting angry about simple things.

Any recruitment will now be players who are prepared to play in the Championship next season for an unknown manager
