I think he’ll want the option to play a back three when he thinks it’s necessary. The way he’s spoken before suggests that from what I recall.

With the back 3 experiment last night and Bueno senior used to that system 2+2=?

Would need another centre half this window though if it were to become the base system
I'll play doc at CB if you don't buy me another

Daily Mail (pinch of salt) are reporting that City are ready to walk away from the Nunes deal. Uh oh...

Bournemouth fans have said he juggled around with formations and personnel a lot last season, sometimes with confusing results, so he seems to like his options, just hope he's got better at using them.

Obviously as a novice manager he's probably still working shit out to an extent

He seems to approach everything on a game-by-game basis, which is fine, but as you say it reeks a bit of a novice manager. Sometimes it's going to work and sometimes we're going to get dicked...

We're going to go full circle and go back to 3atb, aren't we?

We're assessing him on a game by game basis too really. I also didn't mean the novice manager as a jab per se, just factual.

He doesn't seem particularly cautious based on the short time he's been here, obviously it only takes a couple of batterings before some managers and their teams go back in their shells.

I think we'll probably get bigger swings in terms of scorelines than we've been used to under the previous three managers.

Oh I know it wasn't a jab mate - I agree with you re. him being a novice. I think that was fairly evident in the Brighton game.

I don't know, if after the Man U game GON had tried to shut up shop against Brighton and we'd have lost 1-0 he'd have looked like more of a novice.

It didn't work, but I'm glad he went for it, he'll have learnt more from it.

Surely it's better to have the courage to change things around if the need requires rather than being married to the same formation week after week , good for the players too to be used to possible changes .
I recall Nuno trying to play with a higher line at the beginning of the post COVID season and we got battered 4 - 0 . Don't think he gave it a real go before that , players had just got used to too much of the same .

The next number of weeks will tell a lot as to how he will play . Defeats week after week would dictate a lot of course , but if we continue to pick up points in the games where we need to then I expect him to be courageous .

Getting far more players in the box when we move forward is a must .

I'm not sure it's about courage, a lot of it I imagine will relate to preferences and beliefs (and what players you have).

I think we'd all say that Nuno's preferences and framework served us pretty well, as the most successful manager in most of our supporting lifetimes!

You'd think that concentrating on fewer changes in formation and approach would lead to greater understanding and expertise in the ones you do prioritise, and at the other extreme, tinkering around constantly could result in a shallow understanding largely untested in game situations.

As with everything, a high quality manager will get it right more often than not

Good in the air, strong in the tackle, can pick a pass and finishes better than our current forwards according to that! Obviously doesn't highlight all the mistakes he may have made as well. But if that is anything like accurate he automatically becomes our best defender.
Excuse me. 3 of our forwards were clinical last night thankyou

Have to assume Hobbs has been working on these deals behind the scenes in case we were suddenly allowed to spend money. Have to assume Nunes does go though now

Nunes is going to look terribly foolish and immature if it doesn't go through .

It probably will happen , but you can never be sure . City should have plenty of options you'd have to think elsewhere .

He’s not the first player to have done it, and won’t be the last.

If he doesn’t go, it will be the classic he’ll apologise, head was turned, but I’m going to give my all for the shirt line.

I genuinely hope Fosun stick to the price they’ve quoted, and unless it’s met they tell city where to go
