The F1 Thread

I have no idea how that wasn't a fatal. Bloody hell. There has to be an investigation into what happened there in case there was a mechanical cause because it is clearly a very slow corner and the car went into it at a massively high speed compared to the rest of the field.

I think she made contact with someone at full speed down the straight, looks like it spun the car round and sent it flying. It’s a horrific incident and god knows how no one has died, I’ve seen people say that the circuit is not really appropriate for these cars anymore and there are pile ups every year

Bloody hell. The fact the car went as high as it did probably saved those Marshall’s, they just got hit by debris by the looks of it.

It's a crazy circuit, I've got it on one of my racing games and it's borderline impossible to pull off a clean lap without tiptoeing around.

I'm a big fan of motorcycle road racing and this circuit is on the 'tour' as with the NW200 or the IOM you have to ride/drive within yourself, you just can't attack these type of circuits as you can with short circuits, the people who race at these type of events are made of summat different to mere mortals

Looks like Kubica will be driving for Williams next season.

Williams confirm Kubica.

Wanted Ocon on a long deal but Merc were only prepared to let him join for 1 season. So guess he will be replacing Bottas or Lewis from 2020

Didn't see this one coming. Funnily posting whilst in Thailand and no station showed the race last Sunday, let's see if that changes now! Big commercial opportunity for Red Bull which originates from Thailand although I wouldn't say Albon is without talent too.

Wouldn't be the first time somebody's paid for a ride in Thailand.

Albon is very good, taken a couple of years to mature but deserves a shot.

Was he the one who could have beaten Russell to the F2 title at the weekend but stalled on the start?

Fantastic smash on the start in that race when another car stalled and as one car swerved round him, the one behind had no clue and just went into it. Charlie Whiting was ducking for cover up in the control room as the debris hurtled towards him

Lovely little gift from the Wife thanks to her bonus from work. I will be attending my first F1 race this year in Singapore. The times of the racing make it perfect to see what Singapore has to offer in the day and then pop over to the track in the evening for Practice, Quali and then the race. I know this is generally not one of the exciting races but I don't care one bit. In 3 different stands over the weekend. Pedang on Friday and Stamford on Saturday (both up the far end of the track) and then on the Start line in the Pit GrandStand on race day.

As with most F1 races the days end with a concert. So far they have announced Muse for the Saturday. Not my cup of tea but I will probably pop along as the stand we are in on that day is close to the concert area
