The F1 Thread

No Mercedes win today as Lewis takes out Nico and both are out.

Nico took Lewis before the 1st corner, Lewis tried to take it back and was forced wide and hit the grass and he had no control.

Hamilton had the momentum, but should have backed off. The golden rule is never take your teammate out.

Yeah Rosberg ran him off completely, was massively desperate to keep Lewis behind him

it is my opinion Johnny, Hamilton should have backed off. It was a racing incident but one that could have been avoided.

He couldn't have just slammed his brakes on. He got forced off the road and then spun on the grass

A space to overtake.....no decent driver is going to back off. Nico had the right to defend but he went over to far. As Brundle is saying, Nico just didn't realise how much speed Lewis had as he made the move.

What I will say is drifting to the right is not the natural line into that corner. So Nico was blatantly trying to squeeze Lewis and make him pull out of the move. Which he could have done I suppose, but he doesn't have to.

But Lewis was going at such a speed. It wasn't like a Normal overtake, he was literally going to sail up the inside but got squeezed.

The fact he was going so much quicker than Rosberg at that point made pulling out of the move pretty difficult

The overhead shows where the move started, which was the other side of the track. Nico is of course allowed to defend but he has to leave, by he rules of F1, a car width in that scenario...a moped would have struggled to get through that gap.

Cant see any punishment for either driver and of course Lews pays the bigger price as he can't cut the gap between him and Rosberg in the title race.

At least it got Rosberg out as well, the way this season has gone I would have expected Rosberg to not get collected after (imo) causing the crash
