The Definitive TWF Worst Wolves XI Thread

Mick Matthews? Really? He played pretty well compared with the dross around him.

David Wintersgill was just a kid chucked in the deep end as was Ian Cartwright and Martin Bayly. They were all under 21 when they left Wolves so I respectfully disagree with four of your six.

That was the thing I had against including anyone from the early 80's. Some of them should never have been in the position of wearing the shirt, Wolves were a mess and a lot of players were free and thrown in at the deep end. My choices were because they were brought in for real, actual money and most were an abject failure in terms of performance per pound

Matthews was awful. As for the others they played for Wolves so reach the criteria.

They do indeed reach the criteria.

However, Googling for obscure young midfielders from 1982 when there is tons of fair game dross that is easy to think of just makes the choice look a bit daft.

Especially as you could have gone for folk from 1985-86 who were even worse.

It's the equivalent of picking, say, Stephen Gleeson.

Darren Ferguson
Steve Corica
Darron Gibson
Keith Andrews
Darren Anderton
Dave Edwards

Mick Matthews stood out as being an average footballer in a sea of dross. Absolutely no way he deserves to be in the running. Campbell Chapman on the other hand...

Eggert Jonnsom (got so much undeserved game time)
Jamie O'hara
Darron Gibson
Nigel Quashie
Darren Ferguson
Darren Anderton

Ferguson (votes for this a-hole should count double)
Corica
Olafinjana
Carl Robinson
Atkins
Osborn

So many of these guys were around at the same time. We've assembled some truly awful midfields over the years. I'll probably have some sort of breakdown when I properly see Neves in there.

Or alternatively I am simply putting forward the players I thought deserved to be included in the Definitive team. And I do not recall the age of the players being a critical factor in their inclusion in said team.

As for googling obscure players, I saw nearly every game Wolves played during the dark days, so believe me I can well remember the incompetence of the players wearing our shirt.

Did you go to any of the 3 away games that Nigel Quashie played, who you have also picked?

It's Frank's choice, I disagree with the methodology and interpretation but that's who he wants to pick.

We've had people picking players out wide who never played wide so he's hardly the worst culprit! Also when did Silas ever play central midfield for us...

Corica
Jimmy Kelly
The Egg

Thank you DW, but as it was my selection, I knew there would be the usual criticism aimed at me.

So how can you pick him then? You may as well have just put Paul Dougherty to continue your mid 80's trashing[emoji2]

Fair comment. I will delete my post.

I have had enough of people always picking on me. I have more than enough on my plate without bothering about a forum where I am not welcome.

Questioning what would appear to be an odd selection is not criticism of you personally. I've never criticised you personally in the past, and have no intention of ever doing so in the future. You must have me confused with someone else.

I hated Robinson when he first broke into the team but he grew on me. Far, far worse 'footballers' have graced our midfield.
