The Cricket Thread

If this week ends without points deductions for certain counties for unacceptable pitches Somerset will be pissed off. Our deduction cost us the title.

Warwickshire got full bowling points but just a small first innings lead. They need to win as Kent and Somerset are likely to do so and if they do Yorkshire will find themselves in the race for the drop.

Aged well, tbh they deserve to be relegated

Northants are getting dragged in too. Only certainty looks Gloucester finishing bottom.

EDIT - I hadn't noticed Warks second innings batting "efforts". Oh dear. Oh dear me.

Division One down to 6 teams. Two second divisions with each winner playing off to be promoted. 50 over cup in April. If you aren't in the 100 squads then you'll have no meaningful cricket in August.

While The Hundred remains sacrosanct you are just making decisions around which other elements of the calendar you are compromising. The 50 over competition benefits from having more players versus now, but in conditions they'll never face Internationally.

I don’t like it but at least the CC would start later and be continuous and it does make the 50 over game have a bit more point to it. I’m convinced the 100 will end up dying at some point but only to be replaced by another t20.

Makes me laugh that the stats for that count towards t20 stats for the players - I thought it was meant to be a new format?

Worcestershire winning today means that as long as Middlesex don't win against Leics, second place is all to play for next week. I think...
Unless the whole divisional format is reviewed.

More pertinently, if you are a county without a franchise for the 16.4, that is a cut in gate money. Fuck the "ideas" off, and kill the fucking problem, which is the shit new competition.

Somerset were getting bumper gates for the Royal London which I doubt they'll get when its cold in April. Will leave them even worse off.

Gloucestershire need 148 to almost certainly condemn Warwickshire to relegation.

The bumper gates were also because the fucking ECB seem to think all Somerset fans would mysteriously support Welsh fire in their dung pile of a tournament. Never going to happen.

If I were Somerset, I would refuse to release the players for the 16.4 draft. At least it would bring things to a head.

I'm a big fan of the 100, sorry the hilarious 16.4....not because of anything to do with cricket (not cricket though) its because its like a bat signal for Paddy. I reckon you sit there reading your big books of gaming or how to cheat at online chess and suddenly you know when someone has mentioned the 100 online and within seconds the rage typing has begun.

I would like to thank the ECB, Sky, BBC and KP Crisps for this. I would subscribe to a channel that covered the reaction tbh

England win the Toss and bat
