The "Can't do it on a cold Tuesday night in Millwall/Preston/Sheffield" thread

So we have our celebration thread and our best moments thread. I've been waiting for this - a fuck off conventional wisdom need championship experience thread. My persoanl favourite - and I sincerely hope someone still has the link - was the tweet (from Paddy Power, I think) that said "Villa have just signed John Terry on £100,000 a week. Meanwhile Wolves have spent £1m on Barry Douglas from Trabzonspor."

Yep, that would be the defensive liability John Terry and top player for assists in the Championship...

There's only one occasion I'd say we were found out by one of the Championship cliches which was the 'these foreigners won't like it up em' by Colin ably assisted by the ref back in August. That lesson was learnt straight away and although teams continued to try and kick us off the park particularly between November and February nobody else succeeded in gaining points because of it.

It's one of the better features about being promoted in that the standard journalism is better. Clemit, championship expert, is utter shit.

I remember he then went on to praise Steve Gibson for 'backing his manager' spending £30m alone on strikers (two of which Pulis instantly got rid of) plus buying Christie, Randolph and Howson for what must have been at least another £10m. Middlesbrough have got a very easy ride this year in that sense.

It’s because they signed Championship experience! You know, the stuff that gets you 6th.

I will never forget his interview with Zenga, it was all very patronising pat them on the head they'll always be a joke stuff. Hope he's there today, I might give him a couple of polite words.

Wasn't the original saying Barnsley?

I think one of the things for me is that there is now a wolves model. Over the last 7 years many of us here have debated how best to get out of the championship. The Watford model of basically playing udinese B was derided but it worked. The Leicester and Brighton fuck ffp models caused debate but they worked as to some extent did Southampton until now. Wolves owners however did it their own way. Used a connection and bought a unit together from the top down. Others will look at it and try and emulate it. Immitation is the best form of flattery. And for the neutral a passing moving young skilful talented football playing team will be in the top tier not some random bunch of cloggers. I feel very proud that not only are my team promoted they did it in style playing the right way. The wolves way

Good post mate.

Spot on, Cyber - Wolves are the 3rd youngest squad in the league. As you say, a whole new model for the Championship. Wasn't Nuno's biggest doubt about accepting the job whether he could get his ideas to work in the Championship?
