Tetchy Rish! at it again

Looks as though any refugees/immigrants bound for Rwanda, only have to get themselves to Northern Ireland and they can’t get deported, due to the EU enshrining the rights of citizens there to how they were the day before brexit.
It’s obviously way more complex than that, but that appears to be the gist of it, guess the government will have to stop the boats between Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as between France and England

A large percentage come because they already have family or friends here, they aren't coming to game the system so won't be interested in going to NI unless that's where their connections live

Just pointing out what could happen, according to media like channel 4 and the BBC

Yeah I know, I'd read it myself and it's a theoretical possibility, but I do think starts from the position of they are coming here to screw us over which is always the premise in the majority of the MSM, but not the reality

Jacob Rees-Mogg has laid out his vision for the Conservative Party of the future, and it involves welcoming Reform UK into the ranks ahead of an election and appointing a senior role for Boris Johnson.

“It’s time to reunite the right,” said the Tory MP for North East Somerset as he called on Rishi Sunak to offer candidate selection to senior members of the Reform Party, including Nigel Farage, Ben Habib and Richard Tice.

He claimed that most members of Reform were “not a million miles away from most Conservative voters and members” and that his plan for the Conservative Party was its “only chance of climbing this electoral mountain”.

During his GB News show Moggologue on Tuesday evening, Rees-Mogg went on to suggest that the disgraced former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who quit over the Partygate scandal, should return and take up the post as Foreign Secretary again.

The Tories in Canada only recovered after their disintegration in 1993 by merging with the populist right party that had supplanted them. He might just get his wish, if not for a while or under the circumstances he'd prefer...

Posting this in here, although it relates to a discussion I had with @Elephant Pyjamas on the Keir thread.

Ignoring the obvious Truss link this is actually a really interesting interview (also shows how very intelligent people can get swept along by idiots) - Kwarteng talks a lot about how immigrants or second generation immigrants shouldn't be seen as a monolithic block always destined to vote Labour. A lot are more naturally aligned with Tories, or even the more extreme parts of the right. A really interesting listen and worth working through as it certainly challenged my pre-conceptions

I hope that happens because they will never get anywhere near winning an election with that strategy.
They need to do the complete opposite and move to the moderate centre ground if they want any chance of winning an election in the future. Don't tell them though - its fun to see them self destruct.

In a time when many people get their news from social media don’t underestimate the power of personality over policies. Only the other day on Times Radio people in a focus group were keen to see Boris back “as he’s got personality “. I wouldn’t rule out a merged Tory/Reform Party getting elected in the future, though the Tory brand is currently toxic so not at the next election.

Boris isn’t an MP. I rather doubt kier Starmer is going to invite him into the lords so he wouldn’t be back in the next parliament at all even if he wanted to, which he doesn’t as it involves work and he is a lazy feckless cunt

He'd absolutely piss it in a marginal seat though. He won't want the hassle of being an opposition MP but for people who don't really give a fuck about politics or are antiwoke etc he's not lost that much popularity

He won’t want it is the key.

That plus the only parts of the population who have forgiven him are the far right loons anyway so it’s a limited win if people already leaning Conservative.

Any reform and Tory amalgamation steps away from the centr ground where the votes to win a. Election are. I say go for it and may you never darken the corridors of power again.

If he ever returns to Parliament won’t he have a commons ban and possible recall petition due to his previous misdemeanour that he ran away from like the gutless feckless coward that he is?

He's always useless in those situations, he doesn't have a strategy on how to engage with people from a different economic background to him. Cameron did ruling class, posh boy, Johnson 'loveable' buffoon, he just does bewildered.

Its ok, ITV will save him and get him on This Morning for a chat about his hobbies and a few selfies
