Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Was Mendes involved in the Collins deal ?

Don't think he was , and that got sorted nicely in the end .

So we give them what they want even if he's in the last year of his contract..
That's where our negotiation team need to understand their position. It's way more complex than they want x so we'll offer you y.

What's his value if the contract situation is different? IE what discount would we be getting at €20m? He could already be priced realistically.

What is his worth to them - they scraped staying up last year, he could be the difference between them staying up or going down again, so worth the risk on keeping him?

Is anyone else likely to pay it if you don't?

Do you have a credible alternative?

Are they likely to climb down as the window ends?

You get the last 2 wrong and you end up with a farce like Botman. One to judge in a weeks time.

Then why leave it so late when we need a striker.

The leverage has disappeared because Stuttgart know we are desperate.

It's really poor.

Our leverage is, we'll just buy someone else and then take him for fuck all next year. We've already agreed terms with him and they can be finalised in the next few months with a pre contract, they won't want that to happen.

If we had that lined up we'd have done it.

It's no skin off Stuttgart's nose if we don't buy him.

The lack of urgency is frankly pathetic.

Too many people not considering Stuttgart's position and only looking at our own.

No skin off their nose? He's out of contract in June, if they don't sell now they lose him for nothing. Clubs like Stuttgart can't afford to do that.

How do you know they don't have others lined up?

I suppose there is a chance that Stuttgart are keeping it quiet, it doesn't seem like a tremendously good idea from their perspective though.
Stuttgart didn't release that we were interested.

They confirmed it once the journalists broke the story. Same with Hwang II and Ajorque. Bid for both of those way under asking price too

It's the same story

I never get the rush at the end of a transfer window to save a couple of mil. Get your business done early. Get everyone together for a good preseason and you could very well steal a March on a lot of teams and hit the ground running.

Winning breads confidence and becomes a habit. The first few games of a season, where a lot of teams ‘aren’t at it’ are vital and could have a huge effect on where you end up.

If you look at our first 3 games, we’re sat on one point. If our business was done early, and had the players we wanted/rushing around to now get in, 5-7 points IMO with what we’ve seen is realistic. Couldve made the world of difference come end of the season

We don't know if they have or not. All we know is they have to sell this window or get nothing for him.
We don't. That's the story being put out by the media.

It isn't leverage.

The difference between our lowball opening offers and the bottom end of what they'd accept is probably two or three places in PL finishing position prize money.

Having a squad with, you know, strikers and stuff could well bridge that kind of gap come the end of the season
