Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Palace & Fulham linked with Pedro from Flamengo, we were linked earlier in the window.

Guessing he’ll stay until an hour before the window shuts, then we’ll take an offer having bought nobody, Jeff and /or Scott will be saying we’ve been happy with our business in this difficult window

Barca appear to be playing Utd around with De Jong....anyone expecting United to walk away and then move for Neves? or do they have their own Scott Sellars and will just waste the transfer window trying to sign De Jong

I don't think there's any interest at all in Neves from Barcelona or Man Utd.

I'm sure there in some interest from Barca but not going to get a loan one for free buy one for free deal (although thinking about it...shit they might)

If there is it's between £40m and £50m so let's not dick around with mythical figures and waste another month. I'd rather keep him and sell MGW, Traore and whoever else than swap Neves for 3 Barca stiffs which you know is what would happen

We'd be offered rubbish like Puig and Mingueza who they want off their books. We are better off keeping him than taking players like that, I think 40-50m would do it as you say but less sure now that someone will come in and pay it. Seems he is still underrated by the teams that can afford to spend that, that he'd be willing to join.

All these things need to align:

1) A club in European competition, the higher profile the better, and in one of the top three leagues in Europe needs to want him
2) That club needs to pay what Wolves want, which would likely be £50m as a starting point
3) They then need to guarantee him (or at least convince him sufficiently) that he'll play regularly between now and November so he's in prime position to actually play at the World Cup

I don't see that happening.

He isn't going to force a move either.

That's the day thing we could get Puig and Mingueza for less than €10m anyway.

I don't mind Puig but he's not better than João or Ruben. The only one I'd take is Nico and that assumes we'd go to a 3 in midfield. He's a ball carrying midfielder that we need. And they want to get rid of him as they've got Kessie now.

Increasingly thinking it most likely that Neves stays this summer, but we end up shifting him for far less this time next year, thereby giving us little to reinvest and continuing our reinforcement issues.

Tbf if we ever manage another midfield pair like Joao and Ruben in my lifetime I'll be fairly surprised.

Agreed. I like the look/sound of him for fitting what we need.

Nico is just like Matheus for me, he's exactly what we need but currently out of our league. We're going to have to be happy with the budget version.

Speaking of which, Ekrem Konur has said we're 'preparing a bid' (whatever that means) for André Almeida.

Is he good thought I'd read he was going to Porto?

That chap is very unreliable as well isn't he.
