Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Chelsea now linked with a move for Nunes and Abola saying he was “never interested” in a move to Wolves.

What happens first - we sign a player or Johnson goes? My money is on the latter.

If Fosun rigidly stuck to Wolves only being able to sell what they generate, should there be anything to spend without sales? I can't remember how much profit we made. I remember being surprised at how much the wage bill had risen though, might be mistaken but I think that was pretty close to all of the TV money for a season.

If that is right we might be in the incredibly shite situation where we do literally have to sell first. I knew we would end up being at zero net spend or worse but I didn't imagine we would literally have to have the money from sales in prior to any purchases but as this goes on it's looking likely to be the case.

2 years of bonus payments and the packages to get rid of Nuno and his team would have increased those costs considerably. Every side in the Premier League, as long as they don't have bloated squads on ridiculous salaries like Everton, can afford to sign players. We are choosing not to spend money.

Yep Jeff got his client journalists - I'm looking at you Timmy to spin that in a way which gave a distorted view

I saw speculation at the time that those packages were in with the wages part of the accounts, but didn't see any confirmation.

Are the other clubs able to spend because their owners are willing to put external funding in though. I don't think Fosun can't afford it but I think its possible and likely that they just aren't willing to put anything in at all, and they were probably expecting at least one player to have gone out now for a sizeable fee to cover a player or two coming in.

Feeling more disillusioned every day with no sign of incoming players on the horizon. If true, and we have to sell before buying, we are in a very bad situation for he coming season. They could end up so desperate that they allow Neves to leave for peanuts.

There’s a vid that went around of United players ignoring VdB when he was an open passing option. I generally find that that says more about the player being ignored than the ones ignoring him.
Says a lot about Management that they allowed that to happen as well . As a Manager you must tackle disharmony .

I don't think that's right Deano. Most sales are done over time (obviously the Fabio deal is the exception).

The PL also signed a new deal with NBC (I think) for international rights which increases revenue. To add to that we're at 60% wages to turnover ratio which is pretty good.

The days of sell to buy don't exist and haven't done for a decade it's just how Fosun choose to run us.

The Chinese Ashley's can fuck off, parasites.

Even with all the exceptions in last years accounts we made £18m

Well of course he wasn't, we weren't going to bid €50M on anyone either, that one was never going to happen.
Well yeah, but about 20 pages of this very thread have been taken up talking about him so, y’know…

Just thinking out loud really because with 5 players from the squad going out, Trincao going back and the loaning out of some of the fringe players we have got a fair bit to sort. One of only very few teams now to do no incoming business and we weren't even good in the second half of last season. I mentioned the other day that it's very hard for clubs to keep incoming deals completely quiet now before they happen and all seems very quiet where we are concerned.

We had profits on player sales of £14m in the 2021/2 season (Patricio and Mir) with the Vinagre sale to go on top of that.

So the sell to buy doesn't ring true either.

But don’t forget the standard line. You have to wait until the end of the window until you judge them…

I agree with you completely. A few weeks ago people were referring to this window as “the most important window since Fosun took over”, and we currently have zero new players through the door, a load have left due to their contract expiring or going on loan.

Currently we are relying on Adama & MGW to come back and make a hell of a difference (neither of which seemingly want to be here & wont sign new contracts) and for Bruno Lage to have somehow gone away for a few weeks of summer and formulated a completely new plan for us this season, because if more or the same gets served up we were in relegation form for the final quarter of last season.

The journalists that seem close to the club are still adamant we want “2-3 new players” across the spine of the team. I just don’t see it. Would absolutely love something to come out of the blue, but I just don’t think we’re near anything. Meanwhile, Shi is relying on Mendes to sort him out, who in turn is spending all his time trying to arrange a move for Ronaldo, so we’re left with useless idiots like Sellars heading up the recruitment and he’s obviously way out of his depth.

We’re a mess.

Fosun were/are? Happy to put money in, it’s the choice of our glorious leader Jeff to run it the way it’s run, don’t know why, maybe he got a bollocking from fosun group about being over budget and pissing money away at the last business he was running, then decided I’ll show them I can do it on the cheap

Reading further down the Swiss Ramble thread Jeff is probably royally pissed off as he's had his wages cut by 23%.
