Summer 2017 Window Thread

Anyway, all the chat about Omeruo is fine, but the player himself has just tweeted there's "no truth to it".

Expect him at Compton tomorrow morning then...

Bit harsh on Tim 1 to have go over that tweet, IMO.

Apparently moussa marega, Porto forward, hasn't joined their pre-season tour and Twitter thinks he's on the move. 6ft 1 Mali international, it's as good a rumour as any other

I still have a feeling we'll bring in Moussa Marega. Knows Nuno, is too good to sit on Porto's bench but likely won't break through, and probably won't want to go out on loan to a "lesser" Portuguese club again.

More likely than most HITC rumors, anyway.

Alan's already all over it.

Tim Nash made Britney seem like a credible journalist when he covered us. He was so bad that even the E&S moved him down to cover Shrewsbury! He's an arse

When Spiers started as the main journalist he was a big improvement. Simply by not being Nash who was just appalling. Frequently completely wrong, basic factual inaccuracies that were easily checkable, always pursuing the negative angle, bad writing on a linguistic level, bad writing in that he never wrote anything interesting whatsoever, nonsensical statements when called out ("I'm not paid to know about foreign football" - bad enough but he was talking about a Real Madrid player), leaps of faith on idle speculation that any logical examination would reveal was never actually going to happen, refusing to back down even when conclusively proven wrong, no feel for the club or the supporters, self-important in the extreme, ultra-precious if anyone questioned him, snarky and a bit of a nasty piece of work at times on social media...it's hard to be much worse than that.

As time has gone on Spiers has acquired many of those traits to the point where he isn't really any improvement on what Nash was. The worst of it being he now thinks it's fun to revel in it. No Tim, if people are calling you out for being a fucking dick, it's probably because you're acting like a fucking dick.

Conceição says Marega will have some tough times. Porto's coach said Marega claimed personal issues to arrive later. He claims that with him there is no space for lack of commitment but believes he will get back on track and be part of the group

PS: Marega has no level for Porto imo but with their curent financial situation they might use him as a backup option. But there is no playing around with Conceição. He better step up or he is gone. If he does wolves may be an option and likely a permanent deal.

I definitely disagree with Marega not being capable of playing at Porto's "level", but the rest is good insight and I thank you for it.

Sure I've read somewhere that Marega and Nuno had fell out big time? Or did I dream that? Trying to keep an eye on Portuguese football for research on potential Wolves players does that.

SLB I see Goncalves is being linked again with a loan to us if he can't break the Benfica first team. How likely is that do you think? Regular football with us might do him a lot more good than occasional 15 minutes for you guys anyway.

Actually Diogo Gonçalves was in the starting 11 in both friendlies we played. And he was actually the best on the pitch on one of them. Problem is Benfica has 5 wingers besides him. Last year nobody expected for Guedes to play but he was in the starting 11 all the way until January when he was sold to PSG. Rui Vitória may do the same with Gonçalves this year. Besides him i see no other academy player ready to join the first team and the club policy is more than ever to feed the first team with academy youngsters.

So right now i would say a loan is unlikely. And there are some rumours we are trying to sell Carrillo so that would be one less competitor for a place in the squad.

I've been following Spiers & Judah's Twitter postings very closely this pre-season, seen as they're probably the most active 'official' account working on Wolves and providing us with news and insights on what the players have been up to etc. They've certainly provided us with lots of content - regular postings, blogs, articles, podcasts, videos, interviews etc.

I have to admit, I've actually warmed to them both a bit. At the start it very much came across as a couple of blokes who were away on holiday, enjoying themselves and having a 'laugh' (admittedly most of it is not funny - and the podcast is outright cringeworthy) - but as unfunny as they are, I still have a vetted interest in the majority of it as I am interested in Wolves and other peoples thoughts on our progress/goings on this pre-season.

What I do find hilarious is the outright outrage & anger that some (and there are a few on here) have towards the pair (mainly Spiers). Spiers has got lucky and is doing a job most of us would absolutely love to do. There's an argument that some of us could maybe even do a better job than him! But as it is, we're not in that position, so will never know. I don't have the time or inclination to bother myself with getting angry over Spiers and some of the abuse he takes on Twitter etc is embarrassing.

Can't disagree with this TBH.

How's the moral high ground this morning gents?

Spiers puts himself out there as an authority on Wolves. He has constantly pedalled rubbish for the good part of 6 months and the video diary is just garbage. He deserves everything he gets.

We signed this guy called Willock from Arsenal. I dont see him getting a place in the first team and he seems to have this attitude... So I can see him refusing playing for the B team. Maybe an option for Wolves? Anyone has a opinion on him? I never really saw him playing so I have no clue..

He's been there 17 days.

Saw the interview, saw 2 friendlies, has 6 guys in front of him. Sounds to full of himself, for a guy who has done nothing... And i said "seems" anyway. Can anyone answer my question?
