While I agree that Bruno has blown it over these last few weeks, and there is no way back for him now, I am convinced the real problem is Shi. I’m not going to get personal with speculation but it’s clear that he doesn’t have much experience. Is it Fosun deciding not to invest or is it Shi alone?

whichever way, the lack of routine maintenance on this squad now means it’s heading for the scrap heap and we need a whole new team.

it’s my belief that the only two options available to Fosun are to sell the club or sack Shi and start all over again. It’s their investment money he has wasted.
 
He'll stay so long as Fosun stays. And unless there are buyers out there who will match what Fosun want from the club (and probably make a decent profit off it), he's probably not going anywhere.

Voted yes though.
 
He's a very good Chief executive. It's the football side he falls down on. Which is bad when you run a football club..
 
He’s built a shite high management structure, whether that be Vinny, Sellars or Wilde(?). He’s had his pants pulled down on several deals such as Traore and the payments of the Jota fee whilst having to borrow at a premium from elsewhere. There’s also a distinct lack of goodwill between the fans and the club.
Fosun will think he’s doing a bang up job though as he’s delivering the financial results wanted (for now).

Really?

I just don't see that at all, his decision making has been shockingly poor.
 
He’s probably a good executive, fosun wouldn’t have handed the job to him if he wasn’t any good in their operation.
He falls down on the football side, coming across as he knows football and how it works,when he doesn’t, put that with seems to have surrounded himself with yes men and theres your recipe for disaster ( see also, Putin V and Ukraine special ops), club communication has gone as well, when Laurie darymple was here it was a lot better, tacky sometimes, but there was a connection with the fans.
We need changes on the playing side and behind the scenes (scouts, board, football knowledge, general organisation)

As in business (money) up to now. Club is financially sound. Whether that is good or bad depends on your opinion.
 
I haven't got anywhere near enough clue as to what Jeff actually does to pass judgement on whether he's any good or not. If he's solely responsible for how the relationship between the club and fans has deteriorated over the past three years after he'd built it out of nothing then he's pretty shit.

This is how I feel, I would add that I think he's surrounding himself with sycophants who aren't good enough.

In itself that leads me to feel he's probably not good enough, but I'm just not sure.
 
He is going to have to earn his money and some if he puts season ticket prices up again.

The investment company have written off their loan to give a less than honest picture of growth.

The working profit is based on player transfers of which it looks like they have one asset left when 2 years ago they had 5.

I would say that's built on sand. Add to that a weakening customer base, ageing stadium asset needing to be replaced and a CEO living in an echo chamber and I would say that is a company going in the wrong direction.
 
The headline metrics are healthy though. Revenue, profit, market share (league position) and presumably OI will all increase this season. Not sure there's anybody who will understand the underlying business issues, that's what Jeff is supposed do.
 
On balancing the books Shi is probably a good chief executive. On managing the expectations of supporters he is a very poor one. He and others , gave us hope with his statement of intent, initially and often repeated. Additionally , the recruitment at Wolves has been largely poor over the last 3 seasons. Semedo and Fabio Silva costing in excess of 65 million is not good business. Sa and Chiquinho could be. The debacle with the Jota payments and the Trincao/Traore loan also count against Jeff Shi.

Personally , I see him as a man whose hubris gets the better of him and he thinks he is doing better than he is. Jeff Shi is good CEO just ask him , he will tell you he is.

He may also be being poorly advised. He clearly is not an expert at running a club. He does appear lacking in several areas with regard to customer engagement!

I would not be upset if he were replaced by a more football savvy CEO.
 
I am posting this here as I pretty much cannot use this site. It takes hours to load a page and this morning it finally loaded so it all goes on this thread FWIW. Apologies.
My previous views are well known. Shi oversold and under delivered. Our transfer dealings have been woeful and our reliance on Mendes with Sellars et al is bordeline scandalous. I said that we would struggle to get 50 points and that was before we won at Spurs. I wasnt far out, so this crap run and set of rubbish perfromances doesnt surprise me that much. Our transfer dealings, squad depth and all round ethos have been off for two years, masked by the occassional perfromance or mini run that paperered over the cracks. There was never a chance of top 4 with the current squad and our abysmal record of goal scoring. I was never enthusasitic about any european chances as the evidence on the pitch did not show us to be a good side. I gave Lage the benefit of the doubt because , as Napoloen said, he would rather have a lucky General than a good general. Lage got lucky but seems to have run out of ideas and I wont be sorry if he goes. Being unable to beat Leeds, Burnley , Norwich this season is almost inexcusable. Lage may well have not been backed by Shi and may well have been put in his box with regard to transfers. In that case he is a patsy and needs to go. We have been an awful watch for two years and I would welcome wholesale changes in personnel on and off the pitch. I would prefer to watch decent football . The fair on offer ATM is not a good watch and costs the fans more for the priviledge.

I said this model was unsustainable and I fear we will be achmapionship mside sooner rather thanj later unless drastic action is taken. We look very much like we did with TC running the show. Disjointed and lethargic. This season cannot end soon enough for me if there isnt significant improvement.

I am logging off now. Have a great summer everyone. Hopefully we will get some positive chnages and next season will be better.
