Plucked that figure entirely out of thin air.

But let's say Everton really do want him and will pay that. We're set on a back four for now. He probably isn't suited to that.

We'll never get more money than that for him.

If he sits on our bench from August to November, his mid-season break is in St Helens rather than Qatar. Which I would prefer to be honest, but each to their own.

I'm saying thanks Coads but if we're moving on, you're moving on. Still one of the biggest turnarounds from an individual I've ever seen at Wolves. I'd have taken £500k for him in May/June 2017.

Need a poll but yeah I’d agree - saying that he’s probably the footballer I’ve liked most since Steve Bull :(
 
If we were going to spend the money improving the squad, yea I’d take it, if we just sell him and our glorious leader and all round football expert Jeff does nothing it’ll be a mistake.
I’d guess option B is the obvious one

I still think it's a major risk, but if Coads himself would rather leave than be benched, I'd bless it.
 
Love him and we will miss his attitude and leadership but if we can get XXm for him and he can go and play for another prem team its win-win. Slightly wary of what Keef has said though...
 
Love him but I'd let him go. Can't play in a 4 and I'd really love to see him make the world cup.
 
If it was offered I'd leave the decision up to the player whether he wanted to move or not.
 
The biggest question mark for me would be how committed is the manager to a back 4. If he is for say every game save City and Liverpool then I'd definitely be selling as even if Coady played in that kind of game it would be as a traditional 3rd centre half rather than a sweeper and we have other options who could do that as well. If the 4 is just an option and we'll be in a 3 for the majority of games, then I'd keep him. It would be strange if that is the case based on pre season though.

No questioning his leadership off the pitch, although I think it's over played on it. He would undoubtedly be missed in the dressing room and by the wider club - he's always the one who fronts up when other senior players don't seem to irrespective of result. That said if £20m were genuinely out there we'd be paying a high price for that leadership as would he, Southgate couldn’t justify him as the 26th squad member if he's not playing even if the role is more cermonial than anything else
 
I think it is extremely unlikely that Everton could afford that sort of bunce. It's about the right figure though, and if it were offered and I was in charge (yeah right) I think I would be willing to let Coady go with our very best wishes for many years of fantastic service.

As long as it wasn't to FC Sportswash. That would piss me off intensely.
 
Think it depends entirely on Coady's WC aspirations against whether pursuing a move for him and potentially his family is worth it.

If he were to stay then I think he ought to have a role similar to that of Danny Batth during the 17/18 season with a view to moving him on next summer.

Wonderful bloke, I love him to bits. The penalty at Bolton is one of my favourite Wolves memories. 300+ appearances for a couple of million is an unbelievable return.
 
It’s a really interesting argument.

As we know, every player has a price. Football is no longer about sentiment, it’s a business.

The problem I have is not selling Coady for £20m, MGW for £30m, Ait Nouri for £50m or Neves for £70m……if they go, they go.

Every team outside Barca and Real Madrid lose their best players and we’re absolutely no different.

My problem is that I have absolutely zero faith in an inexperienced, largely incompetent Manager and Recruiting Personnel to adequately replace them.

I honestly think they make it up as they go along.
 
I think Collins and Donk could both play central in a 5 if push came to shove so given our need of a CM and CF it’s a yes from me. Be sad to see him go but needs must.

He lives back in St Helens now. Doesn't need to move if he goes to Everton.

In an ideal world I'd keep him just because, but it seems a quick way to generate funds when apparently that is what we need to do.
 
It's the sort of thing people will use against him if it's going badly, particularly on SM. It'll be something used against him but won't be the reason they do turn though imo. Match going fans gave Rafa a chance until he didn’t deserve it and that was a lot more of a toxic decision than Coady going would be.

Turning 30 in February as well, you'd have to say (sentiment aside) it's a bit of a no brainer. Love the guy, love the leadership he brings, if he stays he'll still play a role this year but nothing like the last 4 seasons - and given selling is the only way to buy, we need either that extra CM or ST (or both) far more. He'll be a massive part of this club either way and shouldn't be forced out if he actually wants to stay, however for both his and our sakes, a move might do more good than harm for both parties.
 
It won't take him a fortnight to win Everton fans over, he's Conor fucking Coady, he's the most likeable man in football, a dedicated pro, does loads in the community and is the perfect dressing room influence.

I don't want him wasting all of that to hang around for the 5/6 games a season we play a back five. He deserves to be playing, and yeah right now is peak value for him. The three parties involved will all win, if he's sold on
