O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

So , you don't see Sergio Conceicao being a runner so . Marseille wanted him I think and he didn't go for it .

Someone like him I'd like . Potter too I suppose .
Conceiçao is an absolute heid the ba'.

I wouldn't fancy him to be successful here if we were well run, which we aren't.

Plus I think he'd take one glance at the way the club is run and laugh in Shi's face.

If he was the only choice we had who would agree to come , we'd find it hard to ignore him .

Ok, but he wouldn't agree to come.

That's probably true .

Still thought , Fosun were willing to break the Bank for JL when we were rock bottom and staring relegation in the face . They dug deep into their pocket then . Come the end / beginning of November we'll be rock bottom or close to it then as well .

If Moyes could stomach the porno dwarves then he might cope with Fosun. (Is our squad appreciably worse than his Euro trophy winners?) He'd keep us up, at least. I'd take him out of the current pool of possibilities, although he's more likely to end up back at Everton.

Moyes becomes more attractive when you think of alternatives such as Lampard.

Everton fans think Moyes is already in talks about a return there. I think he'd be insane to go there now.

Well after tonight even though we played well for about 30 minutes it’s another defeat for the club.
Losing is just routine and normal at the moment.
Conceding 2+ goals a game is the norm now.
We concede that many that scoring just feels like a temporary rest bite.
Back in the Nuno days you were very confident that if we took the lead then we’d win the game or at worst get a point.

That was playing five at the back (with better quality players) and Rui in goal.

And a far more astute head coach overseeing things, if we went back to a 5 now we’d still concede a hat full. The players I’ll grant you and that’s more on the running of the club that’s allowed the complete diminishing of quality in the squad since 2020.

Yeah, Rui, Johnny, Boly, Cody, Neves, Moutinho, Jota, Jimenez...🙁

I heard a bit of the phone in on WM when I went to pick my lad up. Daz was banging the 5 at the back drum as were all the callers. Looking at the goals we are conceding I just don't see how shoving another centre half in there will make much difference. We just continually concede really soft goals. There's a very real question about whether we have good enough defenders or a good enough defensive shape or mindset, but if you take Sunday as an example I still think we concede both and as discussed at length previously we were porous last season in a 5. I just don't think in isolation that's the answer.

I agree. Cody played such a big part in organising the line, reading the game, talking and distributing. Just sticking three random centre backs in a five isn't the answer. Dawson might possibly be able to replicate what Cody did. But five at the back isn't the way forwards as we dont have enough up front in a two to repeat what Jimenez and Jota (for the most part) could do on the break.
Not to mention the goalkeepers. Not in Rui's league.

Both goals on Sunday are scored with 5 at the back, as is the one with Forest as most the ones v Chelsea and the 2 at Arsenal.
It’s like re-arranging the furniture on Titanic.

1 win in 17 in all competitions conceding 38 goals or 2.2 goals per game.

If you remove the back end of last season for the "he didn't have a pre-season" enthusiasts we've conceded 14 in 6 this season or 2.3 goals per game.

It's no longer an aberration, it's a feature.

It's not sustainable.
