Norwich 1 - Wolves 2 the daylight robbery match verdict thread

Fine. I have said my piece. As has Tony.

People don't have to agree with us, and that's fine.

criticism was due in the first half no doubt about that, but calling players cunts and twats is just OTT, and mods, how the hell is Monstrum still on the site, he's a wind up merchant and many people have been banned for far less.
There's a way to say we're crap and calling the players cunts just ain't it.

Anyway back to the actual match. Chalk and cheese performance from most. I thought the performance changed when we passed the ball at a better tempo and kept it much better. Pushing Doc and Traore further up was a tactical move I thought went unnoticed and along with dropping our defensive line deeper gave Neves and Moutinho more space and force Norwich into more 1v1 situations which they failed to adapt to.

Raul was rubbish until his goal so in no way MOtM. Rui in the first half and Traore in the second.

That Neto cross is sumptuous.

I don't think we should fall out about match day threads like that. Its when the fans start using c and f when we play like we did last week that should get y'all bent outta shape.

We were abysmal first half, second in every area. Comments only reflected the despair in comparison to last weeks spurs performance. Werent at the races first haIf . if we were 3 0 down it would not have been an injustice. At half time several commented that Norwich could regret their profligacy and that proved true. If football was fair we would have drawn last week and again this week. But its not.

Utterly woeful first half, only Rui came out of it with any credit. I've no idea how all ten were so collectively bad but they were and Pukki was having a field day against our back three. We were lucky it wasn't more than 1-0 as we would have struggled to get back into it but Norwich only have themselves to blame for that. Second half we controlled it and it did then look like a Premier League team against a Championship team and it was really only going to go one way. I was also advocating Raul off for Cutrone at around 65 minutes, nothing was working for him and he was being very selfish in his decisions but cometh the hour...

Neto was brilliant when he came on, I thought it was a bit harsh on Jota at first as even though he hadn't done much it felt like he wasn't even being played in, especially by Raul. But Nuno got it right and it paid off, Neto forced himself into the game and made things happen and his cross for the winner was stellar.

I don't think it was the daylight robbery some have alluded to as we weren't outplayed for the whole game, it was definitely a game of two halves and we took advantage of Norwich's profligacy in a professional manner. Abysmal first half, much better second.

The only person deserving of the cunt moniker today was Garry Birtles. He'd wear it very well.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Sport: "We had a very poor first half. We didn't block with the vertical balls that broke our lines, but I am happy we gave a very good second half.

"When you see you are making mistakes and try and learn from them, that is what the players did. The players recovered a lot of balls in Norwich's half and didn't let them play. We did that and took control of the game, we scored and managed the win very well.

"We had to find new solutions to block Norwich. They are a very good team but I think we were better in the second half because we learned from our mistakes. It is part of us. We are relentless and go to the end. Every game is very important. Every game is a cup final, a final you have to compete in."

Spot on really. We seemed surprised at the way they passed the ball forwards so quickly through the middle in the first half

They were superb in the first half, played good football, excellent movement and they defended really aggressively. I was surprised they didn't sustain that energy for longer, but of course that was because we improved our performance both tactically and in how we moved the ball. Neto with a very positive impact, i think 90% of us would have taken Raul off, then he pops up with the winner! Great finish.

Interesting that there have been more posts about the match thread than the game itself in this thread, bit saft. Especially when the initial criticism was regarding people being precious!

Anyway we are now 2 points off 4th, i'd be very surprised if we fail to get any points from City and Liverpool games.

buncha sunday league playin cuntrags why can't we ever have a good first half never gonna be top with this rank outfit

nuno out

jk. I actually missed the game today, but from the first page of this thread sounds like the matchday thread got heated. :icon_lol:

extended highlights, looked like norwich played really well on the attack in the first half, some impressive movements. the defending on their goal... woof. glad to see we were able to scrap a win though.

Asked him to make sure he got me more than 2 points in FF next week.

As I mod I picked him up in the thread about it and he didn’t do it again.

I understand both sides of the argument - reading the matchday threads back they probably come across as negative (I’ve been called out on it myself in the past), but someone posting “this is a bit shit”, when we are playing shit, is no different to being at the ground and commenting to your mate next to you that we’re playing rubbish. It’s just your comment to your mate isn’t recorded for people to hear back.

Calling players “cunts” and such - too far & it was squashed at the time.

Anyway, conversation has moved on so let’s leave it there.

I just don't understand it, with a couple of exceptions everyone on here has been there through double relegations, league 1, Jackett and Lambert pragmatism. Yet they want to berate the best team they've ever seen on what appears to be a poor performance. Call the performance what it is, abuse of the players is pathetic

Absolutely spot on. We have the best players and manager that we have had in a very long time, and some people still moan. A little bit of perspective is required. The difference in watching us now, to watching us under Jackett or Saunders, is like night and day. We're playing European football while competing in the Top flight and really challenging the top six.

These are halcyon days for Wolves. I cannot understand the OTT moaning. FB is atrocious for it.

we've been that side who have played fantastically and then lost to a team who played for 25 minutes so many times under McCarthy and Jones but we're now that side who can play well for 25 minutes and win.

Adds another dimension to the team. Great three points.

It's always like that, though, isn't it? Look at the biggest clubs in England or Europe. If Bayern finish 3rd in the Bundesliga it's a disaster. Tottenham are out of the top 6 at Christmas and their manager gets the boot.

Tis the nature of things.

Two points off 4th!

Not our finest performance - the first half was very poor by our standards - but we showed the usual impressive resilience to not only come back and control the 2nd half, but then claim all 3 points. Proud of the squad to earn a win like that when not at their best.

Rui MotM for a few important saves that really kept us in it while Norwich were playing well and deservedly on top.

Expectation plays such a huge role in people's reactions too. Get bossed by Man City, no-one really bats an eyelid. Get out-played by a team in a relegation scrap, people will be expecting so much more and are more inclined to get stroppy, disappointed, frustrated. The more you achieve, the more expectations rise. Imagine what the match threads will be like a couple of years from now if we are regularly top 6 and end up with the horror of being 0-0 at HT with a team in the bottom three. :icon_mrgreen:

BBC have forgot they hate us tonight and we are on 3rd

2nd Lineker says.

Edit - he got it wrong. Must be that punch to the head he took from Bully.

These are the kind of games we were losing last season...
