New Manager Search *BACK ON*

Let’s face it, Nuno coming back is far from perfect……but it might be what we need.

We’re officially in the shit and we need a very quick fix - if we go into the World Cup break in the bottom three and cut adrift we might be doomed……no one will want to come in January either.

A lot of Managers will have to win over the fans, input their own style, start each player on a blank canvas blah blah……

Nuno is oven ready. We all love (or at least loved) him. The lift he’ll give us will surely be worth a few points on its own.

Let’s face it, we’re not inundated with options.

I’m starting to like the idea.

“You’re not really understanding what I’ve done to the club since you left are you? Tell you what, let’s go upstairs and I’ll show you..”.

The guy was a legend, but him returning would signify criminally wasteful and muddled senior leadership.

Perhaps, but I think the amount we spent over the summer does indicate some amount of policy change from the top.

No perhaps about it, you sack a guy (partially) because you feel he can't take you in the direction you want, then you screw up the next appointment and (if it happens) bring him back?

So is the message that the direction has changed, or that he's now capable of delivering it?

At this point in time, seems like another unimaginative, cosy and (dare I say it) cheap option

I could argue that these two go hand-in-hand. Dunno if it's an argument I could win, but it's one I could have.

I'd be interested in a discussion rather than an argument. I don't have an entrenched position here, I just can't see (sentiment aside) the point

I thought the idea was to establish ourselves as a different kind of team to the one that Nuno created. He had a chance to do that (albeit at a shit time and with little financial support) and it didn't work out, so why go back?

Personally I'd rather see Sean Dyche given a one year contract (than bring Nuno back).
In the hope that Dyche can keep us up and maybe a bit more.
Meanwhile employ a proper D.O.F. so the next manager hunt (if Dyche doesn't cut it) is conducted properly not by someone who knows nothing about football like Shi.
Obviously I'd rather see a head coach with more potential than Sean Dyche but not any Tom, Dick or Harry who will do 18 months, take the money and piss off.

Build a Dyche 442 from our squad. I get the theory, just not the reality

I can appreciate your 'reservations' but at least with Dyche you know what you will get and he would do his damnedest to keep us up.
As I said I would only offer him a one year contract.
I Edited my previous post for clarification 👍

We'd surely have compo to pay for Nuno though?

I've not been to the one in Penn, the one I have been to was shite. Don't joke about gout, it's worse than childbirth (yes I did say that to my wife, with mixed results)
Wollaton?

One in Penn was shit when I went. Only one I have been to that was ok was in the Mailbox
The parking alone makes Penn Road wank. Never had any issue with any of the others I've been to.

Answering my own question then your strategy starts with a back 4 in a low block, centre halves are fine, full backs aren't really the aggressive type he favours. Then the midfield 2 have to have legs, that gives you B Traore as a tbc and nobody else whilst alienating probably your 2 most talented players, but let's give Nunes the nod. On the wing you have A Traore, a role tbf that would suit him, on the left you pick can any of Hwang, Guedes, Podence or Campbell, they'd all be hopeless. Down the middle you have Costa who is in all likelihood gone (but any manager in any system is going to have to face into that) and presumably Guedes at least until after the World Cup, whilst not having the lump his system absolutely relies on.

There's a bit of a myth he didn't have any money at Burnley he did but spent it badly and never evolved from that system.
