Manchester City (H) 20/10: Build-Up & Match Thread

H/T: If only Semedo had made it 2-0 but the inevitable is going to happen as we won't keep them out. Too many mistakes in not closing down the space together with a lack of concentration is ultimately going to cost us. Still, better than most of us thought but we have Sa to thank as he has been immense in keeping them at bay.

We’re level which we’d all have taken 50 minutes ago.
We’re just very very shit, Sa is MOTM match so far by some distance.
Their goal isn’t bad luck on our part it’s the product of sitting in the final 3rd from minutes onwards.
Had we gone 2-0 up I think it would’ve just delayed defeat until about the 70th minute as opposed to the first hour.

About the best we could hope for really.

Drawing and couple of good saves keeping us in it.

Good goal for them and all but if you're going to give someone with that ability the freedom to pick their spot from that distance it takes the shine off the finish somewhat.

If you like your stats we’ve touched the ball x2 in the city box they’ve touched it 47 times in ours. That’s beyond sustainable

Its ok saying we should have closed Gvardiol down, close him down and you leave one of their more attacking players with a space, or Kovacic, or Stones. It's not easy against a team of their level

Alright Gary, chill out

Sa sending a big message to GON and Hobbs.
Let’s be honest, Sa could have the best game of his career today & that muppet Gaz will have Johnstone back between the sticks as soon as he’s fit again.

You’ve got to manage the immediate threat a free hit on goal 20 yards out is imminent danger not like it was 35 yard screamer.

The basics of defending demand that you close down the ball when there is a threat on your goal. We didn't identify the threat soon enough and stood off waiting. It is not acceptable. Sure, I accept it isn't easy but keep leaving quality opponents these shooting opportunities and they will score goals.

Sa has made a huge difference, not just his saves, he is mobile, shouting at the defence, and organising his back four.
Semedo got his hands full but doing well.
Jaoa gomed more in the game than he's been all season, but msrio still fucking about with back passes im the centre of the pitch.
Fawson is mammoth and santi doing ok.
Personally i preger the bal ealloped clear tp nonsense tippy tappy st the back.
Cunha the key to breaking, if he can just get one clear chance.

Alright Gary, chill out
😆 Just pointing out man for man they are streets ahead of us and many others in world football. They've got half a dozen players on the bench that would walk into our starting eleven.

It's been as good as we could've hoped really. One break came, one should've, and another couple of half chances to get away, and that's got to be the limit of your ambitions really. We were too deep for the 10 minutes before the goal but I'm not sure we've got much we can do about it off the ball, we needed to keep possession for a beat or two to reset and push out a bit.

I think everybody's played well enough, maybe lemina should be using the ball better but it's tough to use the ball when it comes to you and you've been chasing shadows with nobody ahead of you
